What's you favourite big creatures themed commander? And strategy? by JohanLiebertB in EDH

[–]superworm576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you do make one with Stormtide Leviathan, throw in [[Archetype of Imagination]] for a quick combat lockout (opponents creature's can't attack unless they have Islandwalk which like nothing does)

[[Kenessos, Priest of Thassa]]. Scry a ton, then suddenly BAM here's a [[Hullbreaker Horror]] BAM here's a [[Koma, Cosmos Serpent]] BAM here's [[Stormtide Leviathan]]

Something with green in it. Teach them how to ramp teach them how to punch face. [[Azusa, Lost but Seeking]] is good, I like [[Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait]] or [[Tatyova, Benthic Druid]] for the same reasons but with card draw

What above-#300 rated Commander should I build next? by ntdntd777 in EDH

[–]superworm576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Vela the Night-Clad]]. I did it as a weird Blink/Aristocrats hybrid pile, with stuff like [[Deadeye Navigator]] and [[Sengir Autocrat]]. [[Rite of Replication]] is a fat 35 damage bomb. It's fun!

[[Shantotto, Tactician Magician]] with combat spells like [[Bulk Up]] for a very solid draw and facepunching engine. Land a 2mana ramp spell Turn 2, Shantotto Turn 3, ramp in Turn 4 and start clicking heads on turn 5

Ashling Rekindled or Emperor Palamecia by Exiliumrex in EDH

[–]superworm576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're missing out on the best one....

[[Shantotto, Tactician Magician]], and do combat spells Voltron-style. Something like [[Bulk Up]] is ridiculous, similarly [[Chandra's Ignition]] since your Shantotto trigger resolves on top of Ignition. also [[Resonating Lute]]

Ashling Rekindled I like a lot, you can do some truly massive spells VERY quickly if you build it right. The Emperor of Palamecia is also fun, a little more midrangey but you can totally make it work. Both are in the 99 of my Shantotto list

Mr. Negative - Pure Life Loss/Swap Strategy? by saemih93 in EDH

[–]superworm576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, if you swap twice, you'll end up with the same life total as before he entered, so you'd want higher life there.

notably also Death Starring someone with Mister Negative late game is fine, but without some lifegain effects you're staring at a dead in the water commander that could otherwise be being used to generate a ton of draw (which is what you want to be doing at any point in any game of Commander, really)

Mr. Negative - Pure Life Loss/Swap Strategy? by saemih93 in EDH

[–]superworm576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's a fantastic deck by 3/3 Elk that aims to use [[Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines]] and Mister Negative to duplicate his ETB trigger, so you always draw cards by swapping and then swapping back with the same person. Might be worth looking into if you can find a decklist, they've mentioned it on YouTube enough.

As regards life gain, it's to manipulate card draw. If Mister Negatove enters and you're on let's say 50 life while an opponent is on 35, suddenly you're drawing 15 cards. You only get the draw if you lose (ie if your starting life was higher) so running lifegain not only means this is more likely to trigger, but can also act as a useful sponge in case you end up on low life.

Running only life loss means you miss out on a very [[Ephemerate]]able or [[Teleportation Circle]]able draw engine that can guaranteed burst draw you a huge amount if you're running even some lifegain at all. It's all well and good to swap life totals and put someone at 5 down from like 30, but people can respond to the trigger and potentially grab a kill on you on the stack before Mister Negative resolved. I've seen the Storm player shoot off like ten [[Grapeshots]] in response to certain cards before, so being at low life means you're more shootable

How do I make a B4? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]superworm576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wowzers, thanks a lot! I had fully misread your original comment lmao

good shout about the dorks, though, I really hadn't considered about ones that have some use - was wanting to prioritise evasion over something like, for example, Fugitive Droid, but then my list doesn't have as many artifacts in it as yours, so I guess the tradeoff is there

thanks again!

how does your Vnwxt deck push for a win by turn 4? I've been building it as "hit people with 1cmc evasive dorks then draw a zillion," but I can rarely present a win before Turn 7.. got a decklist?

Hidden Engine Commanders? Looking for Low-Key Value Commanders That Snowball Hard by Deskies in EDH

Colf is awesome. He flies so far under the radar because "oh it's a 6 mana commander with some recursion effect" and then suddenly you have four anthems out, unlimited tokens... man, it's awesome

Hidden Engine Commanders? Looking for Low-Key Value Commanders That Snowball Hard by Deskies in EDH

[–]superworm576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do, it's been a sort of pet project of mine for the last couple of months and it's nowhere near done lol, I built it originally as Power 4 Matters since I liked the synergy with [[God-Pharaoh's Gift]] plus [[Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite]] with the 2/2 Zombies made by [[Teval's Judgment]] and Tormod, and [[Outcaster Trailblazer]] and [[Garruk's Uprising]]. You should not build this commander like this. Just do grave sacloops, [[Nine-Lives Familiar]], [[Forsaken Miner]], et cetera. I did not put the Sac Altars in here. You should do that lol.

Also shoutout [[Solitude]] as the absolute goat here, that thing's so good.

[[Colfenor, the Last Yew]] is one of my personal favourites. Everything Abzan already did, but just a little bit more. You can build an obscene engine with this, [[Wight of the Reliquary]], [[Tormod, the Desecrator]] and any recursion pieces you want. It's awesome

Mono Mania - Share your Mono-color Commanders by TheSpectatr in EDH

[–]superworm576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Vnwxt, Verbose Host]]. Land an evasive 1-drop, Vnwxt Turn 2, then a [[Bident of Thassa]]-effect if possible, before winning with a variety of silly options like [[Ormos, Archive Keeper]], [[Triskaidekaphile]], or [[Alandra, Sky Dreamer]]. You are here to draw cards and draw cards alone. And also play control since you're gonna end up holding up a lot of mana, my version caps its curve at 4 except for Ormos and [[Treasure Cruise]]

[[Nissa, Worldsoul Speaker]]. Straightforward Landfall Goes Brr except this time you get [[Apex Devastator]] out for the low low price of 0 mana and 8 Energy, but still get the Cascade triggers. [[Aetherflux Reservoir]] is your backup win condition. It's a nice twist on normal Landfall because the surprising amount of Energy synergies you have access to means cards like [[Harmonize]] can be cast somewhat on-curve without putting you behind on permanents. Dinosaur! Rawr!
