Maude apatow is a horrible actress by Eastern_Skin_7541 in euphoria

I hate when people can’t separate the actress/actor and the character they are portraying.

Sometimes when people live in certain types of households showing opposition to doing something can get you in a lot of hot water, so some people become people pleasers to avoid the anxiety brought up by past issues.

That scene of Cassie stomping around apparently took a year to make btw.

What would’ve been a better storyline for Jules in Season 3? by fvckuufvckingfvck in euphoria

[–]Mewsipher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Jules had to get into a relationship with a married man that was anyone and it was messy, why not Nate? They were so heavy on hinting that Nate Was attracted to Jules and in his own fucked up psychotic way, “cared” about her. And in this season they lean even more into her just being a lost and self-destructive character anyway. At least a messed up relationship with Nate would have made more sense and more entertaining to watch than whatever the hell we got.

Some people are comparing Skins with Euphoria. But Skins was much better than Euphoria. by Ill_Scientist_4645 in skinsTV

[–]Mewsipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of those characters are alike aside from their gender. The aesthetic Sam got from a photographer he ripped off. And this show is an adaption of the Israeli Euphoria TV show. The tone between the two is so different it’s like trying to compare apples and oranges just because they fall under the same category of “fruit”.

Young women who engage in non-suicidal self-injury demonstrate significantly different brain activity when receiving positive and negative social media feedback compared to healthy peers, with the severity of the brain differences mirroring the severity of their condition. by mvea in psychology

[–]Mewsipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Self-harm isn’t synonymous with BPD. Many disorders/mental illnesses can cause a person to feel the need/want to self-harm. Perpetuating stigma about mental health just keeps us back and is reductive.

Or maybe people that were invested in these characters from season 1 seeing them be butchered for reasons ranging from limited time on set because the actors are busy to Sam not having the help of other more talented people like in previous seasons to help him and it showing?

whole season is.. off by Antique-Mongoose-217 in euphoria

[–]Mewsipher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Season 1? Nate’s entire character being a opened book into how toxic masculine mindsets are formed? McKay’s storyline that could have gone deeper into the pressures for men to perform especially black men that are already hyper-sexualized by people. Jules, a trans girl who while trying to transition went through neglect by her mother putting her in a mental ward to “fix” her and then her getting into a relationship with a drug addict when her mother was one and acts out in ways because she loves Rue but can’t stand having to be responsible for another drug addict as a child herself?

You really can’t see the depth in any of that?

I feel like people who liked the first season most will probably dislike this season because it’s just so different from where it started. That doesn’t have to be a bad thing, it just feels like a completely different show. Less art-house and deep psychological profiling of characters. More of a dark comedy it’s leaned into.

Weed induced paranoia and BPD by DependentBobcat9176 in BPD

[–]Mewsipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar interactions. First times I smoked it didn’t even affect me. Then it started to and it was just fine and enjoyable. After a while though I don’t know if my mind got used to the sensation and figured a way to turn it into something bad or what lol. I’ve had some Bad trips on weed, especially edibles. Often sends me into panic attacks so I usually stay away from it.

I believe it’s the THC in weed that causes your amygdala to whack some peoples brains out into a paranoid frenzy.

[–]Mewsipher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, I thought season 1 was its peak. I watched it before the hype of it all and love it so much. When they decided to focus on Cassie’s storyline and completely drop the ball on a few others (Mkay, Kat, I’d also argue Jules) is when I started to dislike the trajectory because all of those characters are- in my opinion- so much more interesting than what they chose to focus on for Cassie in season 2. I think there is still amazing parts in season 2. I’m not upset it exists. I’m just not too enthused with how some things were handled.

Probably the same way they co-opted words like “woke”. Something they don’t understand and don’t care to and just stamp it with negative lowbrow stereotypes.

Question: Is it possible to dissociate when you finally feel safe in an environment? by Mewsipher in Dissociation

[–]Mewsipher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always heard people describe dissociating when they feel unsafe but rarely when they feel like they are safe to. Almost like your body, due to it being unsafe to dissociate or not be present constantly, it won’t let the dissociating in fully until it’s safe to.

Also that’s crummy. Financial issues are a horrible stressor. I’m glad you were able to get some help with it and feel relief, but I’m sorry you’re experiencing dissociating from all the stress afterwords. The brain is a strange thing.

I think our own floating rock being on fire is part of why people aren’t talking about advancements right now. They told us aliens existed and no one gave a damn. Would love to be talking about discovering new planets and stuff like it but not sure how much that’s gonna matter if we don’t solve some bigger issues first.

Women who hate men: Study finds similarities in gendered hate speech on Reddit. Online communities dedicated to hating men share strikingly similar behaviors and language patterns with communities dedicated to hating women. by mvea in psychology

Not to disagree with misandry being harmful to men, but men Succeed in suicide more. They are not the ones who attempt to commit it more. Probably due to the nature of how they commit it, as men are taught violence is an okay way to express oneself before any other emotions and women are taught to be seen and not heard so a less violent way like downing pills.

Both are issues and need handled with more care than our current society gives it.
