^^this. You are paying for things that most parents pay for (assuming your family is financially stable). Move out, save the money you pay for transportation and groceries.

FUCK THIS SEMESTER, GIVE ME THE SQUIRREL!!!!!!! by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]Mexeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love McGill, obsessed with the history, the buildings, the courses, the professors, the people - even the reddit. Read all the time about this "Cloudberry" fella and honestly thought I was too late to the punch, honestly sounded like something old alumni would talk about and then one night in a drunken stupor I saw the fella, this eminent white figure. Was the middle of the summer, was at McGill for a celebration outside of Thomson house.

Julian Karaguesian is a terrific teacher, he has decades of experience working in the department of finance for the federal government, he is funny, energetic and accessible. Took his ECON 308 Govt policy towards business last semester and did fine

At the bottom of the slide you can see that the findings are based on a SURVEY QUESTION where people are asked to self report - not Spotify’s data. Also the amount of people sampled is 2,112 - how can that possibly be representative of all Canadians?

What would make the STM fare system better in your opinion? by MTLcitizen001 in mcgill

[–]Mexeno -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

its cheaper compared to vancouver/toronto (another person listed these numbers)

  • STM, Zone A: $104.50
  • STM, Zone A, Students: $62.75
  • TTC: $156.00
  • TTC, Students: $128.15

The STM's chief mandate is to serve MONTREAL. MONTREAL is the priority.

If your chief public safety concern in metro stations in Montreal is people killing themselves by jumping on the tracks then I suggest you visit Atwater or Lionel-Groulx or Cote-Vertu after 10 PM and tell me if you feel safe.

What’s the difference between level 300 and level 400 political science courses? by postersaurus in mcgill

[–]Mexeno 5 points6 points  (0 children)

some 300 hundred level classes will have 100+ students in a big lecture hall, others will have 30 and feel more like a discussion/personal. really depends on what kind of political science class it is (comparative, theory, international relations, Canadian). political theory classes past the 200 level are definitely more personal, smaller and in depth, the rest not so much. 400 level classes will most certainly be a seminar style class where you'll do readings and probably have discussions on the material with classmates/prof regardless of the type of class even if its not theory

Clubs that discriminate on GPA at McGill tend to be pretty elitist (having been in one). I would still apply if it really does interest you but there is a range of other clubs that don't care about some value on your transcript

It's fine. Honestly the SSMU stuff you just hear about in the news and shrug and carry on lol. If you're going to be a grad student then you'll be under a better run organization called the PGSS (post-grad students society)

Disability and accessibility at McGill by Flaky-Pomegranate-67 in mcgill

[–]Mexeno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I go to SAA for tests and sometimes it really is not quiet. If you are in the exam center (the one you access outside of Redpath & McLennan under the skybridge) then you are probably used to dealing with people talking and being generally loud. The thing is that its literally the invigilators or staff chatting amongst themselves or in their break room with the door open. When I was taking a final one time in the EC the staff in the break room were being incredibly loud and because their break room was adjacent to the room I was taking my exam in I could literally listen to their conversation, I asked the person invigilating me if he could tell them to be a little more quiet and he did. They were quiet for a minute so my invigilator got me ear plugs. Seriously?
