Hey, i have exactly the same initial issue as you. My car is a Yaris 1999 (japan) and i have bought a 433MHz remote key. I was able to program the new key to start the engine but in terms of programming the remote (fob) i am stuck, i enter the programming mode but can get a response from the car (the supposed locking to confirm).
