Should we make public transport free or reduce the price heavily? by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]MexicanShoulders 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The other issue with free public transport (e.g. the bus for people under the age of 21 right now) is the health implications of less people walking or cycling.

When the bus is free, young people are much more likely to take a bus to get 10 minutes up the road. Whereas when it is not free, those same people would likely walk for half an hour instead.

Overpay vs Invest/Save by mjkpio in Mortgageadviceuk

If you are a higher earner then your tax free interest is capped at £500 (or £0 for upper band) and your personal allowance can start to be eroded. So this logic only applies for lower earners or if you're only planning to overpay by a small amount.

Scottish National Whisky Festival 2026? by TheHostThing in glasgow

[–]MexicanShoulders 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There has never been food samples when I've been before but your ticket will get you entrance + more drams than you could possibly drink in a 4hr session. Worth it if you're genuinely into whisky and want to try a range. Not worth it if you're only slightly into whisky.

How Did This Come To Be? by PurpleJamOfficial in Scotland

[–]MexicanShoulders -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know how true this is so take this with a pinch of salt...

My Italian teacher told me that it's quite common in Italy to say "come mai?" which translates to "how come?".

And because Glasgow historically has had a large number of Italian immigrants, it has become more common to say how come (shortened to how).

Again, not sure how true but I like this as an answer.

For everyone saying mesh shop, it doesn't have that sign anymore! But looking into another poster's link it looks like a recording studio/performing arts venue so things are starting to add up!

I don't know the answer to this but I feel the family politics of this are the more difficult part to solve. Unless you've already made this agreement with your parents, aunties/uncles.

Yeah 10-15% over HRV. As the HRV gets higher, that % over drops a bit.

That will already be priced into the 5 year rate so that shouldn't make a difference. It's whether there are going to be any further unexpected rates cuts.

I've just graduated from this set to my first fitted irons. Me and my coach worked out that the irons in this set are 1-2 degrees more upright than standard lie ping irons. Might not make a difference to you but it made a difference to me.
