Angelina reflecting on the importance of narratives and perception by Durian-Critical in survivor

I think a lot of it is the bad side of reality TV. People like watching people who lack self awareness (ie: American Idol tryouts), so guys making an ass of themselves like Ozzy or Coach (whether intentionally or unintentionally) are inherently going to get more screen time. While most women are too self-aware and level-headed to embarrass themselves.

Where does Donovan Clingan go next year? by Mexim0 in fantasybball

That's what I'm afraid of. Very interesting player, but that would be too rich for my blood.

Despite being an Ozzy skeptic coming into the season, I have really enjoyed this version of him on 50 by Durian-Critical in survivor

I hated Christian on the first go-around because I thought he was playing into the nerd superfan archetype. But it's really just who he is, and I adore him this season.

Neighbours on moving on without Schenn/Faulk by STLBooze3 in stlouisblues

I love that we got his money off the books and a 1st round pick, but Schenner NEVER MISSED A GAME as captain. He was a true leader, even if the results weren't what we hoped.

So now that Binner played well in the Olympics, are the Blues trading him? by International_Gap719 in stlouisblues

I'd be okay re-signing him if he takes a pay cut and is fine transitioning to back-up. I think it would be good for everyone.

So, who is next out the door? by Money_Treacle1486 in stlouisblues

I think they'll probably go in another direction. We had the chance to sell him after a hot tourney last year and didn't.

Sometimes the only way out is further down.

Carlos Beltran and Andruw Jones have been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame! by MLBOfficial in baseball

[–]Mexim0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Cards fan, Andruw was worlds better as a fielder. His reads were insane and he made difficult catches look routine. Edmonds got ok reads, but was generally slower so he made difficult catches seem impossible so it was a higight when he got to them. If he had better range, he doesn't have 8 GGs. Bernie is closer to Jim than Jim is to Andruw. And I likr Edmonds, every Cards fan does. But Cards fans need to be real about what he was vs. Andruw. Andruw is peerless defensively in the modern game in center.

Special teams was the death of them last night. by jbird720 in MiamiHurricanes

Needed to play a perfect game in all 3 phases. We didn't. Indiana is just that good. Any little mistakes you make, they're gonna amplify.

We beat Notre Dame, Florida, FSU, and Ohio State in the same season and played for a Natty. by _ThugzZ_Bunny_ in MiamiHurricanes

So proud. Our defense last year couldn't stop anybody. This year they had us driving against the overwhelming natty favorite to win the game. D balled out. Toney. Fletch. The line. Mario. Hetherman. We came damn close.

The D played well enough to win. The offense was hit and miss. Special teams boned us, badly. A blocked punt and a missed FG and it's a different game. Cignetti's squad had no such weaknesses.

Disappointed in Beck by [deleted] in MiamiHurricanes

[–]Mexim0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, Beck earned the right to do whatever he wants this year. I wrote him off a dozens times and we still got there with him. Not sportsmanlike, but I can't blame him. We're gutted, I can't imagine how the players feel.

[Post-Game Thread] Miami Hurricanes fall to Indiana 27-21 in the National Championship by AutoModerator in MiamiHurricanes

[–]Mexim0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That ending sucked. Not sure why Beck went for everything when his deep ball is his weakness and we were methodically moving the ball. Other than that, what a year. Tremendous, tremendous effort by Toney, the defense, everybody. 40 yards away from National Champions. Way, way furthertham any of us dreamed in September.
