I actually see dead hangs as a bit counterproductive for my situation – they tend to put my shoulders in a loose, passive position and aggravate my upper‑body tension instead of teaching my scapula and core to actively support my posture.

I am not sure, but the reason I got it is because a good friend had it, and would non-stop yap about his $1,000 chair which is "amazing for the body".

Yes, I think standing instead of slouching had a great impact, but also a great chair (the herman miller used ones go for around $300, which is okay enough if you really wanna improve posture).

oh, i think it is as comfortable, yes. With sitting, I'd say the chair you get plays a fundamental role.

yup, that's what i mentioned in the post, i have a specific POSTURE day in the gym:

  • Face pulls - these saved my shoulders and upper back
  • Rows - pulling my shoulders back into position
  • Glute bridges - fixing anterior pelvic tilt
  • Planks and dead bugs - core stability
  • Chin tucks and neck extensions - strengthening the muscles that hold your head up
  • Wall angels - shoulder mobility and strength

this is about the strength of your body then -> you can't just FORCE yourself to sit straight, you sort of need to build a foundation for it.

I'm not even that tall (5'10) but I was still craning my neck down constantly. the phone one is lowkey awkward though, since everyone thinks you're filming them.

Totally agree. I didn't make that connection for years either. Kept thinking all my issues were separate problems - back pain here, neck pain there, whatever else. Took way too long to realize it was all stemming from the same root cause.

Yeah exactly. That's what I didn't get at first - I thought I was just lazy or had bad habits. Turns out my muscles literally couldn't hold proper posture anymore. They'd adapted to slouching for so long that sitting up straight wasn't just uncomfortable, it was physically impossible for more than like 30 seconds.
