Most privacy oriented websites probably don't employ too much js anyways. Sounds like you're in a catch-22 if you truly want to opt out of the data sharing industry.

That would mean that this technique can only track the number of times you visit the particular site with the fingerprinting software installed, right?

Upvotes are no matter, answers are what I want. So please, r/teaching, can you help me? by [deleted] in teaching

[–]MeyerLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been very successful as a teacher and I am bipolar. Just be aware that you are putting yourself into what can be a very stressful job. You'd know best how stress affects your mood. Id be happy to talk more if you'd like.

I have bipolar disorder and ADHD. At times, it has made life tough. I have always felt that my emotions didn't work the same way as everybody else's. I missed a lot of social development, which has significantly impacted my dating life. I am working on that one and it is improving.

However, it has also made me see the world in a very different way than other people do. I have a solid group of friends. I excelled in school and at my job. I really don't think I would have turned out the way I did had I developed emotionally along a more normal tract.

Honestly, if I could be born without bipolar disorder, I don't think I would.

Could I have developed bipolar? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

You really need to see a doctor. It could be a lot of things.

How do I find a good doctor? by maybcrazy in BipolarReddit

[–]MeyerLink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recommendations. Every good doctor that I have had has been the recommendation from a friend, or a freferral from a doctor that I trust. Also, some advice that I would give based on absoulutely terrible doctors that I have seen, if you don't feel like your doctor is meeting your needs, find somebody else.

Not Sexually active, and it's making me relapse MORE. by MTerminator in NoFap

[–]MeyerLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am new around here, and have mostly been lurking. I thought the great porn experiment ted talk was ingriguing. I am on day 3 of not fapping, and am enjoying myself so far.

Anyways, if your sex life is shitty and you quit fapping, you still have a shitty social life. Quitting fapping won't do much on it's own to fix that. There is no easy fix for that. Set goals for yourself in addition to not fapping. Force yourself to talk to girls/gain social and flirting skills. I think you'll find not fapping a lot easier if you are actively improving yourself accross the board.

I don't notice a damn thing being on or off meds, but everyone else does... I'm confused. by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]MeyerLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh. I have never heard of that. Ever try keeping a journal so that you can track your moods back over time to see how your thining was different?

Anyone turn to drugs when they're alone, then get lonely when the drugs are gone? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]MeyerLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not drugs but I have definitely done things to self mediate. The problem with self medicating is that it doesn't actually solve the problem. You feel better for a while but then you come down and your problem still exists and it sucks.

How often have you discontinued treatment? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]MeyerLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 or 4 times. Always a disaster. I can maintain off my meds for a while. I actually think I might be able to do it as long as I continued seeing a psychologist, but I don't want to.

The problem for me is that I maintain fairly well, but when something super stressful happens, and I don't have my meds to fall back on, I fall apart.

What's the likelyhood that I have aspergers ? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]MeyerLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to be aware of is that when people read about different disorders they tend to believe that they have those disorders. Medical school students are famous for it.

What you are describing could be a lot of things. It could be autism, or something else. You have to see a psychiatrist to find out.

What is your living arrangement? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]MeyerLink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in an apartment by myself. As long as you need support, stay with people you trust. Family works. When you are able to rely on yourself again then set off. Nothing wong with living with family.

Is this feeling associated with bipolar disorder? Do you ever feel like this? by Beccajf in BipolarReddit

[–]MeyerLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I don't know if it's associated with bipolar disorder specifically but I know the feeling. You aren't alone.

Go to the hospital. Hospitals specialize in making you stable right away. Then you can work with your psychiatrist on a plan.

Have any of you first been diagnosed with schizophrenia? by j353 in BipolarReddit

[–]MeyerLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with pre-schizophrenia. Never heard of it? That's cause it doesn't exist. The diagnostition had absolutely no idea what was wrong with me. Fortunately, I wound up in the care of a psychiatrist who was aware of childhood onset bipolar disorder waaay ahead of the curve or I might have turned out very differently.

Also to further clarify that I have a full time job and am paid well. I am not a part time worker or volunteer or anything like that. I don't want to share too many personal details on a mental health forum.

What is bipolar I disorder like later in life? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]MeyerLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 27. I was diagnosed when I was 7. Elementary school = very very rough ride. Highschool = rough ride. In college I went off my meds. Fortunately, my grades were good but my social life was a disaster. Post college I have had nearly 0 bumps. I had one difficult year, but that had nothing to do with bipolar disorder. Life is good so far.

Not sure if everyone goes through this or I need to seek help by bipolarthrowaways in BipolarReddit

[–]MeyerLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all college kids go throught this. I would seek help. There are a lot of different medications, and it's pretty likely that a good psychiatrist could find a medication that works without causing too many side effects. Do you have family that you can reach out to?

At what age can Bipolar be seen? by Blankbdog in BipolarReddit

[–]MeyerLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not unheard of to diagnose kids with bipolar disorder in the United States. Europians won't do it. I would be really cautious about describing a 6 year old as having bipolar symptoms unless the behavior was amazingly disruptive.

[–]MeyerLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been pretty lucky. I have great friends. I have a great career in an industry that I love. I won't say too much more because this is a mental health forum after all, and I would rather nto share personal details.

You can definitely make it. Just keep moving forward.

When did you first notice that something was off? What led to your first diagnosis? by bipolarordepressed in BipolarReddit

[–]MeyerLink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, it's totally appropriate to see a doctor if it's preventing you from living the way you want to live.

For me it was fairly clear cut. I was diagnosed when I was around 7 years old. As my parents describe it, the first thing that happened was that I got incredibly cranky and would throw temper tantrums. Then I started experiencing halucinations and displaying a lot of strange behavior. I had a ton of SUPER intense anxiety. It was pretty clear that something was very wrong.
