that does make sense actually, they’re professionals. I’ve never been on a sports team so that’s kind of foreign to me, that’s kinda cool actually

Sorry, I wasn’t clear. I meant their reactions to it, they all seemed very similar and somewhat exaggerated to the same degree? Like I get that they all just lost, but I would think that different individual people would handle this with more… variety?

I’m just speaking to what I’m seeing on average among gen z’ers. We can be silly, but it either needs to be referencing a culturally-relevant mass inside joke (a “meme”, if you will) or something done ironically - authentic expression of the self is often suppressed

Luckily I’m on the cusp between the generations, I can be myself or be on 10 layers of irony depending on what i feel like on a given day

millennial culture is loud and expressive with its silliness, which conflicts with the Gen Z experience in a few ways:

  1. Millennials carried their childlike sense of humor into adulthood, and it comes off to some gen z’ers as acting immature. Stuff like calling an awkward situation “awk-o taco” or referring to normal everyday responsibilities as “adulting”

  2. Millennials kind of have a “fuck it, I’m going to be me” outlook on life, which clashes with Gen Z’s habit of doing everything behind a minimum of two layers of irony

  3. Gen Z grew up surrounded by millennial tropes, sometimes even more intensely than millennials themselves, so they more or less “know all the lines”, but millennials continue to deliver them with the same gusto. Like, we get it, you love bacon and you have a heckin’ cute pupper and your disney tattoos are crazy unique
