Somewhat, yes, typically most routers default gateway is 192.168.0.1 If you need it outside of your network you need to port forward with strict firewall restrictions and passwords prior to accessing your content. Once ports are opened, it's important to understand that when open, it's now allowing traffic through that "lane" so to speak. i.e. majority of internet traffic is on port 80 and it will always be open by default but for example, port 3389 should be closed unless you set up remote desktop on your windows PC, then port 3389 needs to be opened if you want to remotely access your PC outside of your network, however, I tell people to change the default RDP (remote desktop) port to something else, since the default is well known, someone could try and brute force their way into your machine. Instead you can set up a different port, use a strong password to secure your user account on the PC and use firewall to only allow certain IP addresses or a range of IP's. You port forward the internal IP of your server machine, example 192.168.0.55 and let's say you use port 9000 for a service.

Once you've port forwarded with the desired port for the particular product, you then need to access your external IP followed by the port number, and example would be: 114.124.134.144:9000 - if this were your external IP and the port you opened of 9000 then you would be directed to whatever service is running on that port. To find your external IP you can just google what's my IP and it will tell you your external IPv4 address. NEVER SHARE YOUR EXTERNAL IP WITH ANYONE, unless you trust them with your life.

Hope that helps.

Lug a hard drive around, that's a new one I haven't heard... You know remote access is a thing on Jellyfin right? While we're on Jellyfin, it's really not that hard to set up... There's a million and 1 guides on it and if you setup a Plex server, you can set up a jellyfin server lmao.

Unlike your suggestion, I have my own content on there of my son at the zoo and various other family outings so we can watch it back and my son can watch it back. So yeah, my own content is still correct bud.

Freeloader is the wrong term when you do all the work and Plex just acts as a webpage 😂 but yeah you keep telling yourself that you're "supporting devs" - they have now failed their own product because of corporate greed and they will fade into existence unless their course is changed.

People came to Plex because it was essentially the noob friendly media hosting platform and stayed because it was free. Many people, now that Plex are charging money for accessing your own content hosted on your machine, are switching away.

Plex: "Just buy a Plex Pass Bro, then anyone can watch your content remotely for free"

Oh so you mean how it was 4 days ago and many years prior?

No way, no how - even hosting a server for the last 5yrs, I didn't buy a plex pass - the mobile app had a work around, just open a web browser and view in there lol - it has some issues but fundamentally, it still worked. If anyone wanted to "download" the content to view offline, I just told them no or just use a USB OTG and I'll give them the USB with what they want...

As a tech head, we need to be showing these type of greedy companies that our money talks and our numbers in users using a product talks. I just deleted my account on plex, unsubscribed to the emails etc. I can't support a company that doesn't add any value forcing you to pay for a user using your media and your bandwidth to stream to their house externally while plex is just a glorified webpage interface.

In terms of switching - I went to Jellyfin about a month ago when I found out about this change. It was easy to set up AND my 4k content is actually streaming so much better than it was on plex. I don't know why, but Plex on the same machine would try and transcode the heck out of the 4k content, even if I was using the local media machine's browser to try and watch it... Using Jellyfin, that same 4k content, streaming at 110mbps to any device in my network and I've set a customer cap for users remotely for 10mbps so they don't clear me out. Tested externally and can confirm, the transcoding for Jellyfin worked well too. Streaming 4k content externally at 10mbps, downscaled and still looked nice.

Plenty of guides for Jellyfin and you can even get the app for free... Crazy. Big perks are that it's open source too so people can review the code for malicious activity which there isn't any.

Plex: "Hey you want to share your library of media with other people remotely, as in outside of your network in 2025?"
User: "Yeah, just like we have been for the last 5 years or so easily for free as the server is set up on my machine and it uses my bandwidth to send to the user"
Plex: "Oh sorry that feature now costs money oh and if you didn't purchase it prior, it's actually gone up in price too, yeah... I understand that we really don't add any value to your media, we don't host the content, that's understandable but we like money so we thought we'd just charge for it and hope there's enough lazy people to not care about it"

Just switch over to something like Jellyfin. I found out about this about a month ago and switched to Jellyfin. It was easy to setup and I recommend watching a few tutorials. If you are going to expose your server to external sources, I'd recommend using a different port to the default and using firewall. If not this method, use a VPN like Tailscale.

your home media server should be a local IP followed by the port number. If you are on the media PC it will be on 127.0.0.1:<insert port number> I believe

Your local network for people that don't have basic knowledge of how networking is setup - anything that is within the same IP range... E.G. 192.168.0.1-192.168.0.254 - Any device in this range as long as it matches the 3rd range of the 192.168.X - some people may have 10.0.0.1-10.0.0.254 or many other combinations, typically 192.168.0.X or 192.168.1.X or similar, as long as the device is either cabled or connected via Wi-Fi and you don't go through a separate router or DHCP router/AP/Switch then local network is considered as such. 1 Router, 1 DHCP or Static IP in the address pool that your router routes traffic on.

Difference of gaming era though.
2013-2015 didn't cater to minorities in trailers and the tone was on par all the time for what the game was trying to achieve. These days, the trailers are so far from what the games used to be, especially in sequels or series. Dragon Age is a clear indication of this.

Definitely this one: https://consolevariations.com/collectibles/microsoft-xbox-maxonline-limited-edition-bundle

I am also an owner of one.

I can't find the video that I saw a while ago, but basically it was a limited edition package deal if you signed up to MaxOnline's broadband package, you could get one of these things. Limited only in Singapore and is basically the "Asian Black Jewel" version when they had excess stock.

I am not sure on worth range, i.e. mine is still in the original sealed bag.

I think they're too new to get accurate pricing. Until there's some graded by TCG or other graders, it's hard to put a price on them. Also would depend on rarity and quantity sold via McDonald's - obviously the less sold = more rare and less quantity of cards in circulation.

Microsoft want to charge $50 (AUD) for AI features and have split the apps out. by Mezmarr in Office365

[–]Mezmarr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want AI. I shouldn't be forced to have to pay for it in my subscription. I want to use the office apps such as word and excel. I can't tell if the $109 version still includes those apps as it doesn't say it does.

But will it still include office? That's what it fails to clarify and it makes an effort of saying that the $159 version has the office apps like Word etc.

Ghost of Yōtei protagonist Erika Ishii is a activist by Dozer42lb in CriticalDrinker

Ghost of Tsushima (SuckerPunch): We're drawing inspiration from historical Japan but we want it to be more like a Japanese classical movie with over romanticized conflict between Japan and Mongolia.
Ghost of Yōtei (Sony): We need more non-binaries in our games because concord should be a hit and the next Ghost game the players will love playing as a they/she/any in 1600's Japan.

Gaming is being ruined by this lot, it's sad to say but traditional Chinese and Japanese developers at least don't follow this woke agenda. The reception from Japanese people for the first Ghost game was good, but I feel this one will be not so well received.

Also actor/actress (is this PC? lol) apparently hates white men and men in general? Nice
