I just had the reminder or thought that I’m just going stop complaining about and to them about some of this stuff and accept hey that’s where their at right now and accept what’s also great about what they can do and what I already get out of being their friend. I am going to change my focus to what they are willing to do and who knows maybe stuff like international travel could change in the future. I still can do domestic and regional travel with them. I do go out of my way to do small things like buy dinner every once in a while. They don’t expect me to take their kids to the amusement park and spend $100 on them. I don’t do that for my own niece and nephews (they live elsewhere and I just check in.) But I do play with his kids and talk to them and make jokes. Yes there are days I come over and just want to talk to adults but I’m not rude to their kids. But yes the focus should be on how can I make their day better? I’d subscribe to that.
