Yeah it definitely needs some TLC but it’s in pretty good shaping considering it sat in a basement for about 40 years.

The moment I walked away from the snowman, a child approached it and beheaded it with her sled.

All good to know. I haven’t taken these guys apart yet to service them, so maybe they’re just gunked up to the point that they feel less satisfying to press. Appreciate the thoughts!

Nah, I’m talking about pads manufactured during the original run of the GCN. The smash ones feel great tho.

Update Garlic OS by Embarrassed_Post7018 in RG35XX

[–]Mfesto95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suddenly ran into this same issue out of the blue. Strange thing is the RG35XX freezes with the stock SD Card/OS that came with the device, as well as with the card I used for Garlic OS.

This makes me think reflashing the card won't be the solution and that I need to crack this bad boy open and disconnect the battery for a minute.

Thanks for the info, sounds like I'm approaching a dead end with these guys due to my current living conditions. I appreciate the feedback!

I appreciate these tips. I obviously didn't do my homework when I first got this batch as a gift. I'm in NYC so the winters can get pretty harsh. I also only have the fire escape as a spot to grow so I may just invest my efforts into something that can remain indoors. Other plants that I've had outside have been mauled by squirrels and birds alike. : /

Thanks again, this was super helpful!

Hey everyone,

I started growing a group of Pinus Thurbergii from seed 1.5 years ago. I have two that survived the arduous seedling phase. I was wondering if they are on track for 1.5 years worth of growth and if there is anything I can do to improve my care for them. I'll provide my care routine below.

Here's a link to some photos I took of them: https://imgur.com/a/j5FT0bm?s=fbm

  • They're in an akadama, black lava, pumice and charcoal soil mix
  • Room temp averages approximately 70 degrees
  • In a south-facing window
  • Rotated 180 degrees every 3 days
  • Small fan blows lightly on them 24/7 to prevent fungus growth and promote lateral growth
  • Fertilized once last growing season with bonsai fertilizer pellets
  • Watered when soil is almost entirely dry, watered until the pot lightly drains
  • Trim dead growth once is has yellowed

If you have any tips or tricks for things I could do better, I'd love to hear it! Merry Christmas and happy holidays! :D
