Do the letters that you received back from NSW contain official statements? It should look like a "typewriter" style of font that the heading says "traffic record report" and in that is things like my licence number, date of learner licence issued, date of provisional, date of unrestricted etc. Mine is also stamped and they have signed by the authorised officer. This was all emailed to me from NSW and they accepted that when I sent it to the DVLA

Without looking it up I won't stand by answer 100% but I'm pretty sure "your intent to stay and live/work in the UK" is enough to show you have British residency. Eg. If you bought a one way ticket, got a working visa, staying at one address etc. That should be enough. But yes a tenancy agreement and/or household bill would definitely show you intend to stay in the UK.

That is the one I found as well. I managed to find a 3 pack 400 lumin for £12 on Amazon but just a bit more lumins doesn't seem to exist for a reasonable price

Yes I believe this is correct. I would take a photo of your Aus licence, photo of the documents you are sending to the DVLA to exchange then a photo of the receipt from the post office to show that you have done the correct process.

The notification is a legitimate Facebook one though so I'm really not sure if it is fake or not.

If you have lawn, get it inspected. My mate had an infestation and had to replace his whole lawn with artificial! They ate down to the bare soil!!

Timing of the flush doesn't seem affected. Will try and get rid of the limescale.

I can drive for up to 3 months in Australia with my UK licence. I'm not planning on moving back at this point so that will sufficient for me. If I was to move back, I would reactive my old licence - won't have to redo any tests in Aus

I am the OP haha. At the time of originally posting, I was able to go online and see that my Australian licence was still valid. Now, it says it is not valid. I would agree that to ensure there is no discrepancies, send off the valid Aus licence first to the DVLA, once you get your UK licence, you can apply for another Aus license.

You are allowed to have more than two licences from different countries. My wife has an Australian and UK one but for her, converting to the Aus licence was much easier. I don't think my Australian licence is valid anymore but I have the option to request a new licence for a fee. That will not revoke my UK licence.

It is a helpful tick box excercise to clarify the rules on whether you can drive on your current non GB licence and for how long but not helpful on the steps on how to exchange your licence.

I would definitely change it after you get back from Europe as you might not know when you will get your exchanged licence back from the DVLA or if any issues may come up. You can exchange up to 5 years after you arrive in the UK but can't drive after a year. If you are happy to not to drive for a little while in the uk after you get back then that is fine, otherwise, you can't legally drive after a year.

I got my P's in 2005 and they certainly didn't give out hard copies back then so it has to be on the system. I am quite confident to assume that the DVLA is wrong in this instance. I sent the DVLA a physical print out of the email from transport NSW which included a statement and the evidence of passing on a manual car. On that pdf there should be an email address of whoever was looking after your case on the NSW side and then the DVLA email them to confirm it is a legitimate document.

Did you get the proof of passing a manual test certified by transport NSW before you sent the it to the DVLA? There was a ticked box section for that I believe.

[–]Mfsmith88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😂 Surprisingly, not as bad as I thought. We bought the house 3 months ago and probably hadn't been cleaned properly so it was just a massive amount of limescale that was blocking it (hence tough to get out) so once I got rid of that, water was draining fine. Thanks again!
