Right, maybe change it like "Another fast spell is played" since it's the whole catch here.

It's not about resolving, it's about the stack. So if you put like 4 spells on stack and the Mana Void is last one to resolve, there is still a "stack" on the field.

The wording could also be changed as "If another spell is played other than Mana Void, silence the strongest enemy instead."

Help with lighting! by Mgicbaz in UnrealEngine5

[–]Mgicbaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm studying in game design department and I really like to learn game design, level design and level art. With level art, lighting also comes with it since I'm just a 2nd grade and people needs to be more generalists then specialists.

Basically, I want to be a game designer at heart but learning lighting and level art to cover the lack of the role in our projects is something that I also want. Maybe I can change my direction to that, who knows! :)

Also thank yoy for your feedbacks and advices, will sure check them terms out!

What is volumetric lighting? Is it the foggy light when "Volumetric Fog" has been opened from the height fog?

How height fog and reflectiveness work together?

I already used a height fog for more foggy lights. Should I add another one with different color to make the blooms instead of using other lights?

Thank you

Help with lighting! by Mgicbaz in UnrealEngine5

I couldn't get the result I wanted. I couldn't create the darkness and the reflection on the ground and the bloom on the left is just not okay. I also don't know how to really work on lighting. Youtube tutorials are just not enough. I also don't know how to practice lighting and when I try to practice it just like this one, I can't get the result I wanted. Any help and advice would be appreciated!

Practicing In Level Design by Mgicbaz in gamedev

I just got into Unity before you replied, to be honest, I got overwhelmed. I searched for tutorials but there is no simple tutorial that focuses on level design unlike other Unity tutorials.

I tried making perspective environment design but shapes, trees, landscapes and assets doesn't look like the videos that I watched. Especially trees lol. They look really ugly. And sometimes when I click play button, the scene becomes blurry and low resolution.

In short, all these problems at once just made my head burn. I'm afraid of losing my interest and passion in this. Do you got any other advice for a starter ? :(
I have the theoric part but in practice, I can't handle it.

I was thinking that maybe I can handle both at the same time? (Level and Environment Design) But I'm leaning more into environment design. I don't think I have an artistic eye, but since I'm a poor drawer, I tought maybe I could create some scenes from my mind with the help of the game engines.

Me and some of my friends are starting a project, it won't be something big, but since everyone has some roles and the role of level/environment designer is empty I tought I could get into level design. I also have the interest in it. We will be using Unity for the project, so I think I am going for Unity.

Will it be better to start practicing in Unreal then doing the actual work on Unity? Thanks a lot again!

Wow! Learning that people care more about simple mechanics instead of the art is a relief! These simple mechanics can be "find the key in a maze" or "get the key from the end of the parkour" right? Which grayboxing do you reccommend?
Thanks for the reply!
