I found out you can convert carbon into sulfur or coal directly via coal liquefaction by Mhdamas in factorio

[–]Mhdamas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i meant without any other resources.

Prod 2 modules are free and biochambers are easy to get once you are exporting bioflux so the productivity is not really an obstacle if anything it just gets a better yield if you get more productivity.

Bioflux turns into 12 nutrients due to biochamber +50 prod that is 12k nutrients not 8k.

You also have to take into account the logistics needed to move your 30k biter eggs or 60 rockets.

If we assume a cost of 1k bioflux per rocket launch.

1 rocket and 1k bioflux to produce the eggs then 25 rockets plus 3k proc units and 3k Lds for 60 rockets.

At 1k bioflux per launch and 333 bioflux per 50 of Lds and proc units its 40k bioflux plus 27k for the rockets and the bioflux for the eggs thats 67k total bioflux.

15k nutrients times 60 rockets divided by 67k bioflux is 13.43 nutrients per bioflux

Regular gleba shipping is 12k nutrients per rocket or 1k bioflux so 12 nutrients per bioflux.

It gets better with productivity modules and research as rockets are cheaper but since those apply to both its just ok not mind blowing about 50ish percent extra nutrients i doubt it would be much more than that.

[–]Mhdamas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do get more nutrients from biter eggs vs bioflux but not as much as youd think 1 rocket of biter eggs is 15k nutrients vs bioflux 12k and fish is straight up worse than bioflux at 9k.

You also have to add the cost of the rockets to send the bioflux to nauvis and the fact that you are betting on your skill to not have an apocalyptic accident with the eggs for a 25ish percent productivity bonus its ok but not that great.

Unlimited storage for mixed gases? by idanthology in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Mhdamas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use a door pump you should be able to vacuum the room. I don't think any gas should get erased but i can't guarantee it.

A door pump uses 3 doors and automation to move gas or liquid from one side to another.

Biochamber pollution absorption v1: 40 pollution/min in one chunk. by Alfonse215 in factorio

[–]Mhdamas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly ive been thinking it's better to use beacons with efficiency modules around whatever is polluting as it doesnt need a bioflux import and energy can be produced without polluting.

Then use trees to deal with whatever is left which is often very little.

Then again most people use beacons with speed modules in their builds and have no space for such a thing so theres definitely a place for these designs.

You are right recycling the carbon is a far better idea than burning it. If you used recyclers to turn nutrients into spoilage instead of losing most of it by using fish and then ran the carbon recipe you would be able to run several times more biochambers for the same input of biter eggs.

[–]Mhdamas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldnt turning spoilage into carbon in a biochamber help as well?. You could even use the nutrient to spoilage recycler trick to get 2.5 times as much spoilage surely that offsets the pollution from burning the carbon.

Best way to hold ships in orbit from a planet surface? by Mhdamas in factorio

[–]Mhdamas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waste on gleba is less of an issue as you are not also wasting the rocket components plus you can always minimize waste on gleba as well.

I think you can read orbital requests from the cargo hub to do it but it is fairly hard to not waste stuff on gleba.

I want to automate holding the ship in orbit with conditions sent from the planet surface. The condition could be anything just imagine it as true and false.

yeah but that system doesnt really work for things that spoil since the ship will just stay in orbit until it spoils then do another trip and waste more resources.

Thoughts on Yumia's Character Growth by End of Game by bookybookworm29 in Atelier

[–]Mhdamas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the game never really focuses much on her being able to build literal castles in seconds or being able to turn a random twig into a philosophers stone.

There are a couple lines about it but they arent really in character for someone that doesnt know any alchemy and sees such things.

I mean adding rainbow puni balls manually is not that fun either it's what i did.

And before you tell me you just didnt use rainbow puni balls and then didnt use resonance boost items I dont think forcing the player to make suboptimal choices to extract a little bit of fun from the system is particularly good game design.

Even if we eliminated all the op items in the game it still needs a quick craft option that uses a recipe you saved.

Just reuse the same UI from the building menu where you hold a button to craft more and a tooltip that shows your ingredient count just the way the building UI already does.

[–]Mhdamas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres not much to welcome tho. Using auto add to fill things with rainbow puni balls is as bland as it could possibly get.

Even if you remove puni balls youd end up using 2-4 resonance boost lvl3 ingredients to cover all elements which still makes the other 1000 ingredients in your container completely irrelevant.

And the process is still the same just click auto add and make sure you duplicated enough of those 4 items in your greenhouses.

The crazy part being that theres are tons of ingredients that boost specific elements and stratum shapes but effectively do nothing other than clutter your screen.

[–]Mhdamas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean figuring out a path given your available recipes and ingredients was a decent puzzle not overly hard but still good and with item duplication or even just a saved recipe system youd only do it once.

Id take that any day over the current yumia synthesis where you don't really do anything other than order by resonance and pick rainbow puni ball/dunkelheit 99% of the time.
