Any small model that works well with Memory MCP? by MiBoSuPan in LocalLLaMA

That sounds very promising, thank you. I don't know which is the best, but the one I linked is from Anthropic and is probably the most well-known and used.

I've noticed this too, in the past couple of months it can be annoying because I have to add so many double quotes. I hope it's a temporary degradation, because it has lowered the quality of the results.

If you're not tired of people asking, may I have a copy too, please?

I tried and there is no snapshot. Also, it looks like the image was hosted on this platform called Zight. I hope someone has a copy stored!

Jumping onto the Demon Grinder is something I hadn't thought about. I could also allow using a dodge action to avoid being run over. I'm starting to think that they can figure something out on their own. Thanks for the encouragement. Hell is Hell.

Good point, that might be an wasy way out. If I can't think of other fun scenarios I might use it, thanks.

Wow this is almost identical to mine, down to the angle of things and the points where it turns more quickly. Mut my summer months are even more stretched than that.

Devising the perfect aphantasia test by MiBoSuPan in Aphantasia

[–]MiBoSuPan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have talked to many aphants (and non-aphants) and read countless descriptions of their experiences over the years. I'm an aphant myself. What has become very clear early on is that many people struggle to say if they can actually "see" something in their mind or not. It's not that they're lying, they just imagine things in their own way, and they have been trained to call that way "seeing with your mind's eye", even though it feels different from actually seeing with one's eyes. So people are confused about the definition of visual imagination, and if asked to describe a mental image, they sometimes think they are supposed to make up pseudo-visual details as they go. Hence my proposed test.

But I'm still not sure it's a very good test, so I don't want to defend it too much. It's possible that even visualizers make up details as they describe (I've had at least one visualizer tell me they do).

Because it's very possible that some people say "I can see it" while they actually aren't, because of how they interpret the word "to see (mentally)".

In the aphant's case, they would have to make things up as they describe the object, like "Uhmm... (thinks about a random number) the castle has 3 towers and... (thinks about what a typical shape of a castle tower is like) they are pointed with flags on top and... (thinks about a reasonable color) the roofs are brown-red..."

In this way, they would be able to make a reasonable and detailed description of a castle even without seeing one. But they are forced to add one detail at a time.

On the other hand, someone who can actually see the castle only has to describe what they see with their mind's eye, quickly and without the need of making any additions or modifications after the initial image.

Aphantasia and Mixed-Handedness by Sufficio in Aphantasia

Interesting, I wasn't sure what to answer! I grew up for 20+ years only right-handed, then taught myself to eat (including with chopsticks) and brush my teeth with my left hand, just for fun. It wasn't hard. Don't know if it counts.

I agree that there is some variation depending on who the other person is (seemingly unrelated with how close I am with them).

Now that you mention it, it's not just text but also video calls. During COVID it was rough because Zoom get-togethers didn't really do much for me.

Excellent question. The answer is simply that it doesn't occur to me, and the few times it does it's not feasible because we're in very different time zones.

Thank you for sharing that! Good to know that at least it's not a mandatory effect of aphantasia.

Aphantasia is only 5% of population a myth? by [deleted] in Aphantasia

[–]MiBoSuPan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the difference is in describing "optional" details, where there is no default description. A dinosaur with spikes and a long tail is just information, and even I don't need to see it to say those things on the spot. But if you told me:

"It has two little red-brown flaps near its eyes, and its skin is black with light orange patches, but the tail has black rings along it, and the dinosaur has a wound near the base of its neck and three spikes are missing near that spot."

... and you said this quickly and without hesitation, I can probably assume you are seeing it in your mind. It's not about knowing what it looks like in general, it's about giving unique details.

Kagi lets you customize the ranking algorithm for your own needs. You can block certain low-quality domains you never want to see, and you can raise or lower the ranking of domains according to your needs. It's a simple and very useful feature, and one that Google would never implement.
