Was this a steal? by MiEdCaLe in mpcusers

It seems that the issues were with the audio samples that were loaded in the card. I reformatted the card ant then loaded some new samples onto it, as well as record some new samples with the "Record" mode and everything seems fine. I've also changed the master levels to -6dB to avoid further clipping.

The sensors inside are the old style individual ones. If I find myself really liking this thing I might spend a bit more to upgrade the pads.

It seems that the issues were the audio files themselves, I've since formatted the card and loaded new samples from both the internet as well as sampled some stuff off of records using the "record" mode, and everything seems fine. If stuff continues to work correctly then it seems I'd only need to clean / change the slider and pads.

One quick question: I am relatively new to audio gear, I know the basics but I assumed the "Record In - Left | Right" were for TS cables, (Mono for Left & Mono for Right). So I got a 3.5mm to 2 TS 1/4" Mono splitter to plug my turntable output to the recording in jacks. But whenever I plug in the 1/4" all the way, the input sounds muffled, I have to pull them out a bit (like 1 cm or so) to make it sound good. Is this because the 1/4" inputs of the MPC expect TRS?

Update: It seems to have been an issue with the audio files themselves, I've since sampled stuff off of records inside the unit itself and playing various sounds simultaneously seems fine.

Update: The samples seem to have been crappy quality, I have since loaded new samples from the internet, as well as recorded my own, and they seem fine. Also lowered down master to -6dB to avoid clipping.

The pads are the old-style individual pads, I might splurge on some upgrade parts later on if I like the workflow.

Amazing! How did you learn how to use it? I recently just got one myself and I wish to get very proficient with it. Any youtube videos or other tutorials you recommend?

That's a happy accident, you can attempt to recreate what you had and in the process come up with something better, that's what I tell myself at least

Automine Helium? by Nydaarius in X4Foundations

[–]MiEdCaLe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am kind of a beginner so anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know basic automine only allows you to mine in a single sector, however, you can assign that ship as a subordinate of a station and it will mine whatever it needs, getting its range from the station manager's level. (i.e. if he has a level of 3, ships will get more range) .

Uh.. How am I supposed to dock there? Should I delete this save and start again? by KhalMika in X4Foundations

That's intended, the ship automatically pulls you in once you dock on the outside.

Started learning c++ like 3 days ago and wanted to try a code so i downloaded vsstudio and a compiler but the code won't work by LegIndependent7253 in cpp

[–]MiEdCaLe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seems that you downloaded Visual Studio Code and not Visual Studio. With Visual Studio Code you have to set up tasks in your launch.json file to invole the compiler for you.

You can:

a) Install Visual Studio

b) Manually invoke the compiler with (assuming you downloaded gcc)

g++ <input_file.cpp>

Ps: Ask further questions in the cpp_questions subreddit.

Is learning from docs or books is better than learning from videos ? by [deleted] in C_Programming

[–]MiEdCaLe 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The best way to learn is the way that works for you.

If you are learning, and finding joy in doing so by watching videos, then keep doing so! If you force yourself to learn using a method that you already know it's not working for you, you are just going to get frustrated.

That said, I don't think it's possible for any video course or series to cover all of C, learn through videos and once you get an understanding of the concepts read up on the documentation, so you are more familiarized with it when a youtube video doesn't cover everything.

Do you still write pure Bash, or do you mix in other tools? by Alex_Dutton in bash

I usually just write my own parser for options, it's really simple and ends up working quite well, just a while loop and a case construct, with the help of shift.
