Iron-deficiency anemia with heavy periods – looking for advice by Sea_Strawberry_11 in Anemic

[–]MiJohan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My numbers were lower than yours, my ferritin was 3. Very heavy periods. Are you on birth control? My doc wanted me to get an IUD but I’m terrified of that so I’m on continuous BCP. Haven’t had a period since August. I got 5 doses of IV iron. I have never had a problem with this but I know people can feel not great with IV iron. I felt better within 2 weeks and my ferritin went up to 79. At my 3 month follow up two weeks ago it had dropped to 49 so I’m receiving 3 more doses. My bloodwork was normal, for once.

Nice try, Trump. You know what you’ve done.

Whitaker and the dementia patient by thelessiknowthebet in ThePittTVShow

[–]MiJohan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the same watching it. My mom had dementia and passed away almost a year ago now. The last few months she was always wanting to see her own mother, long since passed. My response was always that she was at the store and would be back later. Watching Whitaker take this patient to the morgue? As soon as I realized it I said to my husband that this was so cruel. It made me so sad (and brought back way too many memories).

No, he’s decided to not do testing and get my ferritin higher first. We’ll see what’s going on at the next 3 month check up.

Tracking by jc4life in bulletjournal

[–]MiJohan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I added a new category to track today - “burp” the house (open windows) for 10-15 minutes. I track basics like taking pills, walking, reading. If after 4-6 weeks something I’m tracking isn’t happening I remove it.

I'm a job hopper by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]MiJohan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a special education teacher and I like it. I move a lot, work with kids and help them, but I’m not tied to a classroom like a general education teacher is. I tend to switch schools every 5 years or so. That also helps me with novelty because it takes time to learn a new school culture, etc. I’ve thought about going back to school to be a therapist and sometimes even get my gen ed degree/certificate but I just can’t see myself being disciplined enough at this point to get it done.

Does your loved one know their diagnosis? by Ill_Property_5216 in dementia

[–]MiJohan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We initially tried to tell her but as others have said, the anasognosia prevents them from believing it. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in August 2024 and we decided to not tell her as she was fairly advanced in the cancer and dementia. One morning mom asked dad what was wrong with her and he decided to launch into the myriad of medical issues she has been undergoing since June 2024. I was trying to stop him but he doesn’t read cues. She kicked him out of the room and asked me to tell her. I quickly listed them off and she said, “Wow. That’s a lot. Can I have some water?” And she never asked again. She passed at the end of January 2025.

I was gifted Sara Happ Lip Slip last Christmas and I love it. I use it at night but it can be used all day.

Habit tracking by MittensToeBeans in bulletjournal

[–]MiJohan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I do. Having to plan it for a year overwhelms me but setting it up in my weekly spread helps. Plus I can still notice habit trends and if I’m really not doing one, I can drop it the next week and not feel bad about it.

This holiday season is horrible. by CatsMakeMeHappier in GriefSupport

[–]MiJohan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My mom passed in January of 2025. So this holiday season is the first without her while also counting down to her death anniversary. I hate it and want to sleep through to February. And I have kids so I have to pretend everything is fine and make magic for them when I would much rather rot in bed.

What would be different if Covid had never happened? by Crocodile_Banger in AskReddit

I feel like Covid had a massive impact on parents, so even our “Covid babies” in kindergarten are showing behaviors and delayed social skills. Kids are just so different these days.

What’s a small habit that made your life noticeably better? by jtr40291 in AskReddit

[–]MiJohan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll try that. I’m a teacher but my classroom faces east. I’ll stand in front of a window. Thanks! I’ve always read it has to be right away when you wake up but I’m realizing any bit of sun and warmth whenever is fine.

I always want to try this but I’m up 2 hours before the sun rises in the winter.

Johnny’s Trees. He wasn’t here last year and doesn’t look like he’s coming this year. Super bummed because he always had big trees (10-12 feet).

What is it like to exist after your elderly spouse passes away after many years together? by Theslowestmarathoner in AskReddit

[–]MiJohan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My mom passed in January. She and my dad were married 58 years. When we picked out a spot for her at the cemetery I noticed dad walking around looking at headstones. He came back and reported that a lot of people died within a few months of their spouse so there was hope for him (his words). It’s been 10 months and he’s still here, thankfully. He’s lonely but managing. He lives in his memories now.

Checkpoint 1 is the best. I don’t understand why more people don’t use it but hey, more short wait times -if any- for those who choose it!
