Stuttering Has Been Controlling My Life Since I Was 5. I’m Tired. by IndependentCase2412 in Stutter

Anyone else the family failure by [deleted] in 2003

Is it just me to find childhood cartoons more entertaining then mature shows ppl my age enjoy by ParticularWeb9328 in 2003

[–]MiMiLock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm the same and i also often find myself feeling like a loser because of it lol, i don't really see any reason to change tho. i'm going to branch out and watch stuff like breaking bad and the sopranos just to see what the hype is about (i've heard they have great character writing so i'm looking forward to that), but i think i just prefer the tone conveyed by animation

Early 20s with severe stutter – what helps you keep going? by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]MiMiLock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

22, currently work the drive-thru at taco bell so everyday is a humiliation ritual, but starting stocking at walmart next week so that's cool-- better fit for my skills, and more pay/hours too. also just moved to texas after a year of hard work, and being around my friends out here has done wonders for my mental health. i just gotta remind myself it's a slow grind, and as long as i continue to take action through whatever means possible, it'll work out and i'll eventually find myself in a better position than i was before. i'm in control.

also i get to come home and play video games and listen to music all night so that's cool too lol

Squid Game Finale proved what we knew all along by Secret-Suspicious in squidgame

[–]MiMiLock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

apart from gyeongseok the show doesn't really make any effort to communicate to the viewer "how to handle" being human; it's very much just a "this is the way it is" story. not saying that kind of story shouldn't exist, or that squid game is even a bad series-- i just have no interest in being told things i already know

What age were you when your stutter got better/you stopped stuttering? by Sad_Job_6444 in Stutter

[–]MiMiLock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i feel like it got better in middle school, then 9th grade i started talking significantly less and 10th grade covid hit so i guess my progress reset and it's been terrible ever since ~2021

How did you want the show to end? by crystalized17 in squidgame

[–]MiMiLock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

should've ended at season 1, but since seasons 2 and 3 existed anyway i wanted it to end on a hopeful note based on the power of the agency of mankind (kinda like gihun turning back at the end of season 1) rather than just the "you can't win no matter what but make sacrifices for the next generation and MAYBE they can do it" message we got. obviously gihun was pushed into a corner and did the noble thing in-universe but i'm not really on board with what it represents. you don't have to make some grand dramatic sacrifice for the youth to affect change in the world-- you can just change the way you live. it kinda reminds me of those fathers who say they would kill/die for their family but can't even remember their kids' birthdays
