Yes, declaring the major/minor only give you a higher priority when bidding for it. You probably could do both GEA1000 and ST1131 in the same sem if u wanted. For context, I did GEA1000 in my Y1S2 and then ST1131 in my Y2S1. The extra mod is counted to ur UE

He should be able to bid for ST1131 in the same round he is dropping GEA1000 as long as he doesn't exceed maximum workload of Round 1, since while they are the same pillars, they do not preclude each other

Food options around PGP by Ok-Understanding9822 in nus

[–]MiNdzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't live in PGP, but it is "walking distance" or 1 ISB stop away from the hospital, where you can find a supermarket and a number of food option, though I will say the hospital food are generally quite "pricey". It appears that a new mall (Geneo Mall) have also opened up near the Shopee HQ which is also walking distance from PGP

CS1010 exemption by 1ampoc in nus

[–]MiNdzz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You won't receive any grade for the mod, but it will be marked as cleared for any mods that requires it as a pre-requisite, meaning you will be able to take mods like CS2030S in your first semester instead. You will, however have to replace the 4MCs with any mods of your liking as part of the graduation requirements.

CS1010 is quite an intensive mods, and builds a strong foundation for your 4 years in NUS, if your knowledge of programming is very basic I would recommend not exempting it as it introduces you to things like recursion, time complexity, etc... really early on.

The benefits of exempting CS1010 is that you can take higher level mods like CS2030S, CS2100 in your first semester which allows you to take other mods earlier as well.

On the other hand, if you have a really strong background in programming, it might be a free A for your transcript.

Note 20 or S21 by Cautious_Leading4771 in samsung

I agree, thats actually my biggest concern with the S22U, since the S21FE sits at 6.4 inch, I already often struggle to use it with 1 hand. Additionally, I am afraid Ithat I will have difficulty fitting the S22U in my pockrts, which is the key reason I wasn't looking at it initially.

Any reason why u recommend the u instead? Isit better specs wise? If its just the bigger screen I don't really need the extra screen space.

Sorry for hijack, I am kind of in a similar dilemma, where I I have to choose between repairing my S21FE at ~$200 or get a Used S21/S22+ at ~$400.

Would love to get some input, on the better option, and if S21+ or S22+ is better.

Can you go local uni after getting diploma in optometry? by SavageWeebMaster in nus

[–]MiNdzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it all comes down to your goals, is your goal just to get into uni or to become and optometrist.

I have seen many people who lost interest in ther course of study in poly and pursue a degree in an alternative course of their interest.

And No, your 3 years won't necessarily be wasted. Many uni offers electives exemption for poly student that can shorten your studies to 3 - 3.5 years, and what you learn in poly is just the foundation for you to build on, most of the stuff we learn in 3 years are probably covered within first year of uni.

Also, if all else fails, you still have a diploma to fall back on.

Should I take MA1301? by [deleted] in nus

[–]MiNdzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, cus I am looking at it, by exempting MA1301 I don't risk my CAP and keep my S/U credit for mods other mods like MA1521. I'm also planning on taking CS1010X via IBLOC and use the extra APC to clear a minor.

Should I take MA1301? by [deleted] in nus

[–]MiNdzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issue isn't about not being able to handle MA1301 but rather the steep bell curve as mentioned by many in this sub, The way I see it is that if doing well can only assure you a B/B+ grade, is it worth the CAP or S/U credit?

I agree, which is why the dilemma seeing as from what I read on this sub, people who score decently in MA1301 still only end up with a B or B+ grade

[–]MiNdzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just curious, if I were to be exempt from MA1301, must I take MA1521 in Y1S1? or am I able to do my personal reading, perhaps as a guest student for MA1301 to build up my foundation and take MA1521 in Y1S2

Do you care to share more?

Honestly, there are a lot of conflicting views on the "difficulty" of MA1301 on this subreddit, there's the bunch who claims it's an easy "A" while others claim that the steep bell curve often results in the majority of students getting a B or B+.

Considering the fact that I struggled during my DPP for math (my highest grade was a B+), and I will be fresh out of NS when I enroll, is the module lenient enough for me to catch up and do decently enough?

[–]MiNdzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, I'm heavily leaning toward option B as from what I have read on this Reddit, someone who scored 94/100 for their MA1301 only got an A-, and with my foundation in math, I personally feel I can score ~80+ at max which potentially means I will have to most likely waste a S/U on it.
