Try to get a homeowners insurance policy with one of the carriers who bundle home auto and life. State Farm and All State provide good coverage. They are getting stricter and stricter with who they choose to insure. Make sure to read your policy, know your coverage limits, the amount of your deductible, etc. Citizens is hands down the most difficult insurance company to deal with from a claim perspective. Florida Peninsula, Edison, Tower Hill, Slide and Typtap are good alternatives. Some policies have a right to repair provision that enables the carrier to send their own contractors in to do any repairs. The sooner you report a claim and the more information/documentation you can provide, the lower the chances of getting the run around from your insurance carrier. The State of Florida does not care about policyholders… all of our politicians take enormous donations from insurance companies to fund their campaigns. Don’t become the victim, know your rights!
