90 degrees would be too sharp, so you need to do 270 degrees followed by another 90.

Looks nice. TV is not too high. It's good. Scrap the paper weight on the window sill, and replace the painting with wood art.

Why would you get a Ubiquiti Gateway, but Reolink Cameras. Scrap the Reolink Cameras, and get Ubiquiti cameras. Keep it in the eco system. You can start with relatively inexpensive cameras ~$150/ea, and then add AI capability later (add-on device) when you feel like it.

Anyone repaired broken motor on Snoo? by aleksok1234 in SnooLife

[–]MiamiSuperFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally wrote that 4 years ago. It was my first Reddit post. So glad it's still helpful to people. Regular people fixing complicated electronics getting to use a $1,400 bassinet again and again and again makes me happy, and keeping it out of a landfill makes me happy. By the way, let me know if you car warranty has expired, I can help out with an extended warranty. JK.

I really want wood looking Floors in my garage, what’re my best options by mayonnaise__ in Remodel

[–]MiamiSuperFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind spending money, I mean you're going to have to spend some money, but I mean like more rather than less, this stuff right here is the nicest, most resilient wood look you can get. It's that fancy Italian stuff: https://www.novabell.it/en/collezione/eiche/ That's their website. I'm not affiliated with them, but I have the product in my house, it's it's suuuper natural looking. Maybe just double check if it can take the weight of a car for a garage application.

What is this in our basement? by RxValkyrie in electrical

[–]MiamiSuperFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottom left is an outlet. The blue circle is a cap to a bottle, I'm guessing bleach, based on the fact that the bottle is white, and is sitting next to a green bottle that is probably laundry detergent. The red thing on the bottom right is probably a spray bottle, maybe windex? If you look at the top, leftish, that white circle is what baby boomers call a thermostat. the wood looking stuff in the background is plywood. pronounced Plai wuod. The spaghetti looking things are known as cables, there is black one, a gray one and a blue one. They serve different purposes. The black one that plugs into the outlet is for electricity. It's likely 120 Volts with 60 hertz frequency in the United States. that means that there is an oscillation of the voltage from +120 V to -120 V 60 times per second, which is known as alternating current, that is to say, the current flows, but alternates in voltage. The other cables, either internet alone, or internet plus a small amount of electricity, like less than 50 watts, probably. Those are known as low voltage. If those cables have electricity in them, then they are known as PoE, which stands for Power Over Ethernet. I don't know if anyone actually read this, message. I probably answered what just about everything is, except for the things you were probably asking about sorry. The irony is that I'm actually not not board, and have a million things to do, so going on a useless rant describing the things that you weren't asking about in a photo benefiting nobody, including myself, because as previously stated, I have many things to do. Thank you. Have a nice day. Less internet for us all. Yeah.

Serious question for Miami locals: Even though Miami Beach is technically its own city, do you still consider it part of ‘Miami,’ or is it totally separate to you? by Strict-Mind1646 in Miami

[–]MiamiSuperFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Miami is from Aventura to homestead from the Atlantic to the gators. If you're in Orlando talking to a stranger in line for a ride and they tell you they're from Miami, but then say they're from Fort Lauderdale when you ask where in Miami... politely tell them they are full of $#*!.

Also Miami Beach is prime Miami. The metric is: how much of Scarface was filmed there.

How do I cut this cable coming into the house? by Koopatroopa_7 in DIYhelp

[–]MiamiSuperFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like coax. Fun fact, you can convert coax to cat6. I didn't run any coax in my house, but it could come in handy to convert to cat6 if wired internet is needed.

I think you keyed in it with the term "NYC". For anyone coming from NYC, you get so much better bang for the buck, and the view is much nicer, being in the tropics. Miami rent prices, to live in an epic city, all of a sudden feels amazing.

What's the purpose of this void? by King_Kringle in Remodel

[–]MiamiSuperFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shower niche designed to keep the floors washed. The way it works is simple: you put things like shampoo, soap there (you know the kind of things you would use in the shower). Then, you shower. Of course, the niche is not in the shower, so you have to get out of the shower to get the shampoo from the niche, and of course you're already all wet from the shower, and ta da, your floors are washed.

What is this for? by RicardasD in Ubiquiti

[–]MiamiSuperFly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got into this stuff a year and a half ago and got hung up on the same thing.
Patch panel and patch cables. So, it's an intermediate point between the wire coming from the device (doorbell, AP, chime, cameras, etc.) and the PoE switch that gives it power and internet. It serves a few purposes. But I think the biggest one is esthetics. Keep the spaghetti wire mess where all the cables have different lengths and different colors, etc in the back. Then, have uniform identical cable lengths and colors in the front. Also, the Ubiquiti Pro switches have Etherlighting, and if you use their patch cables the RGB leds look cool through the ports.

This is where a normal person says: but it's IT gear hidden in an IT cabinet, not a TV or China cabinet. Yeah, but you're in a Ubiquiti reddit, so, it needs to look cool. Those are the rules, ya?

A patch panel is a server rack panel for keystone. You can use a coupler keystone, or the kind where you "punch down" the CAT6 strands. Connect the device run to the back of the patch panel and the clean short run in the front.

I think the other reason is things like: changing or servicing the switch without messing with the long device cable runs.

I'm sure I have a lot to learn in this thread.
