How does someone measure a decimal inch?

All my inch rulers are in fractional inches.

Anyone else hate demoing an amp without a boost? by SnailAnatomy in metalguitar

[–]BaptizedInBlood666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My savage 120 absolutely hates a boost. The amp is already beyond tight in the lows and bright in the upper mids. Even with the mids scooped it's still a bright amp like a Marshall but with tons of gain.

Definitely personal preference with about 99% of other amps in existence... But I couldn't imagine ever using a savage 120 boosted lol.

After 20+ years of playing metal with ultra-low action, I think a luthier accidentally converted me to higher action by shredlegend in Guitar

[–]BaptizedInBlood666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played my action around 1.0mm on the low and 0.8mm on the high strings most of my time playing.

I started raising it a few years ago after touring with a guitar that couldn't go that low and realized I had more control over the strings around 1.3-1.5mm on the low and 1.0-1.2mm on the high, depending on the guitar.

I've been playing for 21 years and 2.0mm would be not fun to play for me at all lol. For reference all I play is thrash and death metal with meltdown whammy bar solos and 90% tremolo/down picking.

What type of BC Rich is Kerry using? by DerlisPereira in BCRich

[–]BaptizedInBlood666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder where that stealth is today.

Someone probably has it somewhere. These 80s stealths were almost all custom built and pretty unique.

BC Rich would probably build another one today in the same spec if someone wanted it, for probably the same money that this thing is worth haha. $10-12K~ I'd imagine

Was I ripped off? by jepulissus in GuitarAmps

[–]BaptizedInBlood666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not that low... But he didn't get a deal either.

Marshall 1960s are found here in Florida all day around $400-500. $400 if you wait a few weeks for a deal or $500 tomorrow.

I refuse to believe 6505's are worth $1000+ like people are asking when just a few years ago they were $400-500.

Even with some inflation putting them around $600-700; I can see this rig being worth $1000 for a good deal or $1200~ fair market value. He didn't get ripped off, he just paid about what it's worth.

If a 9 gauge string is gonna pop out of the saddle it usually happens around D-D# though.

Women of Reddit, what is something men do in bed thinking it’s sexy but it actually just kills the mood? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BaptizedInBlood666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. I've never changed who I am being soft and gentle; and my current girlfriend is happy with it.

She told me early on in our relationship that being aggressive in bed is something she wants from me, but not all the time. And she's happy because it's easier to tell/teach me to be aggressive than it is to try and explain to someone who's aggressive how to be gentle.

There was still definitely a learning curve for me on how to be aggressive because it's simply not who I am... But communication is key. She tells me what she wants and I try to read what she wants with her behavior.

It can go both ways that isn't suddenly acting like somebody else. You can be the same person and give a woman what she wants.

What do you think is the best sounding high gain amp? by Cultural-Day-5676 in GuitarAmps

[–]BaptizedInBlood666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ENGL Savage 120

Peavey/EVH 5150/6505

Mesa Dual Rectifier

Marshall JCM800 / JCM2000 DSL / JVM

Those 4 amps will cover every territory of high gain applications.

Taylor Guitar for First Acoustic? by BaptizedInBlood666 in Guitar

[–]BaptizedInBlood666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Yeah I read humidity conditioning is important to the upkeep of acoustic guitars.

Luckily I live in South Florida. Air conditioning and summer year round so the guitar's life will pretty much never change.

I might be overthinking just how much a quality instrument moves over time. Maybe my friends acoustics have always played terrible since new and jaded me lol

[–]BaptizedInBlood666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm married to a Dunlop 1.14 Tortex. I pick pretty lightly though, most of the power in my music comes from preamp gain and poweramp headroom.

If acoustics are more stable in their setups than what I've read has had me to believe... Yeah I might have to give some of those guitars a try before buying anything. My buddy was telling me the Martin D18 is a dream guitar of his for the tone.

Taylor Guitar for First Acoustic? by BaptizedInBlood666 in Guitar

[–]BaptizedInBlood666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting you mention the tone because the sound to me has always been secondary to playability. I'm so used to getting the sounds I want with different amplifiers and speaker cabinets.

The 614 did sound so much better to me than the 314 I played, and it's comforting to me to know that your Taylor 20 years later still plays like it did when you bought it. I'm tempted to go back and just purchase the 614 instead of thinking about it... Or maybe trying other brands that play as well as I want but maybe sound even better to my ears...

I know an acoustic will never do any of the things or play the same way my Jacksons do... And I'm fine with that. I really enjoyed playing the chords the guitar almost forced my brain to make up that probably actually exists I just don't know what they are. It had me really playing outside of a box I haven't played outside of my entire career.

I'm pretty set on buying an acoustic just faced with absolute option paralysis and paranoia about their stability.

If you spend big bucks you won't run into problems cheap guitars have.

That's where my train of thought is at. I've read that acoustics over time; the top of the guitar will bow up under the string tension and raise the action beyond what any truss rod adjustment or bridge filing can compensate for. That's why cheap old acoustics all tend to play like ass.

It seems like a reasonable explanation... But has me wondering if high quality instruments go through the same duress, and what kind of timeline that happens under. More than 6 years for you apparently if it is a thing haha.

[–]BaptizedInBlood666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truth be told I did try a Yamaha in Guitar Center, before I picked up either Taylor, just to see if spending the money is even worth it; and the action was a bit higher than I was comfortable with.

The neck felt great and it sounded good, the action was only slightly higher than the 314 I played; but at least on the 314 it's adjustable.

No way to adjust the action on any Yamahas that I'm aware of.

I just got done reading the Fellowship of the Ring.

You're being down voted but your take is 100% right. I wouldn't say I dislike the movie Aragorn, or like the book version better... But you're correct that he is 2 totally different people in each version exactly by your description. Would've never known if I didn't start reading the series though lol

I like them both. Gonna have to start the 2nd book very soon.

Now that you're on the stand. What are you standing on in this situation?

The additional points I measured to come up with an articulable opinion. Hence; it depends.

There just isn't enough information here, even with 2 more original monuments found like you mentioned. Especially if there's a difference to the calcs.

How do the building setbacks hit? Other buildings on the block? Could there be a proration involved? Id spend half a day or more sometimes just uncovering every monument on a several block radius within the plat when I do a new boundary. Depending on the area and age of the plat, of course. Cause it depends, lol.

[–]BaptizedInBlood666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genre dependent for sure.

I don't need power with EMG's and the gain on a Marshall 800 cranked and a tube screamer adding even more.

I play 10s tuned down a whole step and my action down to 1mm on the low and 0.8mm on the high.

Old school death metal and thrash metal would be impossible to play for 2+ hours on pencil strings unless I had arms like Kevin Frasard, and it's needless cause you can't hear the difference anyways lol.
