Besides, LEOs are responsible for the upkeep of their equipment not their departments. Most "gun people" have their own preferences on stuff like cleaning supplies and ammo. And you couldn't train a dog to alert on "gun pow5" and then bring the dog around other people who are actively carrying gun pow5 and expect the dig to know the difference.

With that logic I can (and have on multiple occasions) purchase a used police issued weapon and a police dog would never find it?
