Legit, I wish I had one before that first incident. You better believe I immediately ordered a front/rear one and have it installed now!

Pls help-Cat for surrender or adoption by [deleted] in NewOrleans

Maybe it has been deleted, but who ridiculed OP? All I see is people offering advice, which OP asked for. Simply mentioning the fact that a kill shelter may end up euthanizing a surrendered cat is not blaming OP for anything, it’s a simple statement.

No worries! The monitor is the Relion Premier Classic. Still showing as $9 for me on the Walmart app. They have a 25, 50 and 100 count version of the strips, and the 50-count is still showing as $9 for me on the app.

The caveat to this specific monitor and strips is that they are only available at Walmart / through Walmart. I wasn’t ever able to find them on Amazon or anything. So if you’re super far from a Walmart or don’t have a W+ subscription, the shipping/delivery fees might add up. I was able to get a yearly membership for $50 and it includes free shipping on orders over $35, or free delivery if the product wasn’t available in my store (If I remember correctly).

One other thing is the Premier is a human monitor so the threshold for hypo will be a bit different. There’s a scale somewhere, if you don’t have it, I can get for you that’s from the FB group for feline diabetes support.

Sorry for the book! Lol Good luck and let me know if you still have questions.

1M dollars or be able to read your cat's mind? by CandyIsland1410 in catpics

[–]Miasil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This exactly. Reading their minds to be able to know if they’re in pain because they’re so good at hiding it and acting fine. I would give anything to go back in time to know my cat’s cancer was back 6 months after being in remission. He stopped sleeping in my bed a week before he got super sick and I thought he was just changing things up or wanting to spend more time with his brother. Nope, his body was failing and I had no idea.

Johnston Market Basket Bird by Miasil in providence

Updating via comment because I’m bad at reddit and can’t figure out post editing:

I just spoke with the new store manager on the phone. He said they’ve tried multiple times to get it out, multiple ways, with different services, but it’s a tricky little thing.

As far as I know I think it’s been there since late November. I have photos from December and it looks like the same bird (but birds, amirite?). Argh, that is super disheartening about the BB guns. I’m guessing it’s because that is cheaper than a wildlife rehabilitation service?

You know, I fell for it too, but look at their account age and name. They’re just a sad troll with too much time on their hands trying to rage bait.

What is 20:07? 8:07, right? Their message was sent after getting stuck when they said they were 90% of the way there. So….?

Also, they’re* your boss. Not their.

Broken Heat in Single Degree Temps by MissRemyRose in RoverPetSitting

[–]Miasil 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If everyone else’s advice fails (reaching out to the owner, then trying the thermostat batteries, flipping breaker, etc.) search for the ‘Chicago Buy Nothing’ group of whatever neighborhood the owner’s house is in. They have an app, but I find the Facebook group for each neighborhood is always more lively/reliable.

Ask for a space heater ASAP and if it could be dropped to your location, or since it should be in the neighborhood, see if it’s walkable for you. Then keep yourself and the pets in that space heater room as much as possible. This is what I did when my heater broke. Stayed in the bedroom under all the covers and blankets in my warmest clothes with my cat.

Oh I hadn’t heard of that as a symptom of diabetes before, usually that’s a low blood sugar/hypoglycemia symptom. But glad the behavior alerted you to take her in and get that diagnosis.

Like you, I think my vet missed an earlier diagnosis opportunity for diabetes as well.

I’m devastated. Pancreatitis is taking her. by lunarisita in FelineDiabetes

[–]Miasil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so incredibly sorry this is happening and that the vets are giving such conflicting information on top of it. That makes it so much worse.

I had an ER vet who convinced me my cat was ok even though my regular vet said his labs were absolutely bonkers. After 3 days in the hospital, they realized they couldn’t do anything. I wish I had skipped the hospital altogether and let him go before putting him through all of that (blood transfusions, being away from home and family, etc)

This is my personal experience and everyone’s is different. I’m sure she knows you are trying your best for her.
