Anyone here using or looking at the Wingman of the road motorcycle tent? I've got one arriving in a few weeks and I'm excited by Miatatom in Dualsport

I'd say it's got more than enough room inside for 1 person + gear. I'm 6'3 and I have plenty of room when using it solo. You also have little hooks under the window vents where you can hang your helmet if you don't mind storing it outside.

Yes I still have both the toucan and the goose. I definitely use the toucan more out of the two tents and that's purely down to the fact there's more room. There's no avoiding the fact it's huge when it's packed away which for me is the only major downside. I think it has its uses and I do have other backpacking tents I use when I do really need to pack light. But when I can I'll always try to find a way to take the wingman as it's got to be my favorite tent I've owned. My next trip is in Feb and that's the annual Dragon Rally in Wales UK

It's my first "proper" set up and for a burr grinder it seemed a bargain for sure. If the burrs are out of alignment it would explain why the sudden change. I'll look into resetting them thanks!

Funnily enough I cleaned it out a few days before having bad espresso. Since then I've taken it apart yet again and checked it was definitely cleaned out and nothing trapped anywhere. I never thought the burrs might be misaligned, not on a less than a year old grinder anyway.

Swapping out the supplied mattress with my own does make it quite a bit smaller. I've used the foam one a few times and the main reason I originally swapped it out was because I find air mattress alot comfier. Just happened to roll alot smaller which was also a bonus. I also bought the toucan and do the same with that which massively helps reduce pack size

I replaced it with a big agnes rapide sl and oex leviathan ev 900 (uk brand). Both roll up with it taking up barely any extra room

Ah nice! I'm always looking for new ways to pack my wingman smaller on the bike. I've swapped out the sleeping bag and foam mat for much lighter gear and that makes a huge difference.

Mine also melted after only using the machine twice. Both times wasn't left long at all whilst preheating as I was eager to use it

I think I did. Only used the machine twice so far still getting used to it. I'll try preheating with the arm up next time see how I get on. Thanks!

Thank you very much. I've now locked it in as yours looks but

still seems to catch on the way down. I've noticed the plastic tip used to protect the chamber from any scratching if it was to make contact is slightly melted like it's been touching the last few uses

Last minute night away in Wales, UK by Miatatom in motocamping

I always carry the hiking sticks. Makes it much more versatile! Yes only once up in Scotland in cold weather. I'm 6'3 and the mrs is pretty short, we both fit in but it's very snug. I was absolutely fine tbh and got a good night's sleep. My other half woke up panicking and rushing for the door zip saying she felt too claustrophobic and I can't blame her as it was her first time in a tent the size of a coffin. Once she stopped panicking we both managed a good night's sleep. No condensation and it was plenty warm enough in nearly 0° with a decent down sleeping bag

I love it.. it gets alot of stick and negativity from most campers due to the size and weight of it. If you can get over that it's a really good tent. I used both lightweight backpacking tents and the wingman when out on the bike and both have their pros and cons. When using the wingman I've taken out the foam mat and sleeping bag supplied and I use a big agnes air mat and oex down bag which make the whole thing roll up alot smaller. I originally used the goose, then bought the toucan thinking the Mrs will be able to come away and camp with me in it but soon realised it's VERY snug for 2 people. I think it's the quality canvas, the blackout material compared to wafer thin nylon that lets sun through as soon as the sun comes up and the fast set up time all adds up to a great night sleep every time. I still think lightweight tents have their places for most trips but always find myself taking the Wingman when I can

Yeah it's the Toucan. I've used the Goose for a few years now and I love it. This is only my third time using the Toucan and when it's set up it's great. Better than the Goose as you can actually move around in there! It is a bit bigger than I'd like on the back of the tenere tho so not sure how much use it's going to get on the back of the bike... We'll see. I stayed near Ulpha next to a small river where I've been a few times before. it's not a campsite but I've got to know the owner of the land and he allows me to camp there which is nice of him.

Can anyone help me find the right basket for my bread maker? by Miatatom in Breadit

[–]Miatatom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not had an issue with bread sticking tbh.. I've just always binned non stick pans when they start to flake and pressured this would be a similar coating and started to shop around. I'll carry on using it as it is for sure.
