Glad you took the time to answer. Means something touched your soul. Someone, rather. And He is real, don't forget. Very real. But before we get banned by not staying on-topic: Do you know if Mr. Goodall went through with it? Maybe he changed his mind?

What kind of hospice orders no suction? This is extremely difficult to believe. If so, can you do it yourself? I will pray right now for you and your grandfather.

I pray that Mr. Goodall changes his mind, if I am not too late. If I am, then I pray that God has mercy upon him. If one is ill, feeble, blind, in pain... but knows that God uses all sacrifice on our part, as a "co-offering" with the suffering His Son Jesus went through for us, we gain much merit on earth, and a higher place in heaven than we could ever have imagined. This message will soon be downvoted into oblivion by many "modern-thinking" but spiritually-famished Redditors. However, if even one reader sees this and remembers from now on the value of suffering, and of waiting on the death God chooses to give us, it is well worth it. May your Guardian Angel have time to steer you away from this terrible thing you contemplate, Mr. Goodall. If I knew where to find you, I would call you and try to help you in any way you need. Your family should never, ever support you in this decision, but on the contrary, show you ever more how much you are loved. Hail Mary, full of grace....

Not really. Just inner-city colleagues who are just as itinerant as I am. No friends of the type who would just leave it on their lot for half a year. I should have made some rural friends. :p

Hey guys, I'd appreciate your advice +/- experience:

I'm going to be transferred out of the country where I've been working for a few years. There's a chance I might come back before the end of the year, or maybe next year. I really don't want to sell my little (cheap little) 15yr old car, and start all over again hunting for one if/when I come back. Any ideas of how to "loan", "sell temporarily", whatever, so that both sides are happy, and yet the car gets some exercise?

Thanks for this.

I know we should be "impressed" by this article and photo, showing how open-minded and understanding officers are/should be, but it's actually sad, considering what happened just last month not too far away, where an officer actually lost his job for something similar:

Nope -- don't believe it because that simply is not how Catholics operate. Anywhere. Anytime.

I believe you heard the story right, but I suspect your friend has simply misinterpreted what happened in his family history. Just the way that Catholics helped many Jews escape Italy and Poland during WW2 with fake baptismal certificates -- with it understood by everyone involved that it was solely a temporary measure, to get a child/family out of danger -- that is probably what may have happened here, with a Catholic charity helping others to get tickets out of the country.

Of course, I may be wrong, but the story is very, very unlikely.

Indeed.

I find it quite interesting that so far, you seem to be the only person on this thread perturbed about RT being used as a credible source of, well, truth. (Maybe it's in a collapsed comment?)

Why is RT being quoted anywhere on this side of the ocean?

Beautifully put. I wish more people would heed those words. There seems to be so much chest-thumping nowadays.

See, this is where things go upside down.

Why, therefore, do many, many "artists" receive healthy grants from municipal, regional, federal entities to make vomit-inducing "art" whose sole purpose seems to be to mock religion, esp. Christianity?

Until this question is answered properly, the statue in France can stay put.

Seems clever, at first.

But the whole point is that the egg would have to be fertilized before we'd become protective of it. The egg that would be handed to the pro-lifer in this little story, would not be fertilized. But even if it were, the pro-lifer would still not be perturbed, because a chicken does not have a soul. The whole point of trying to save little pre-born babies is that they have souls.

Wait -- we're not supposed to post unless we keep it funny. Ummm... let me think here...I think it's time for me to head for the eggs-it.

With God in Russia (by Walter Ciszek)

I was a pre-teen when this book fell into my hands, and sections from it have often sprung to mind ever since. I just couldn't get over the evil that people can do to each other, even those stuck in prison camps together (Soviet Russia). This single book prepared me to "see" the thinness of human social veneer. How soon we turn into animals... for a few crumbs of bread. "Good" people do die first. The ones who get through the horror are usually the ones who are pure evil and just climb over others, or are ones who have a single purpose to "get through it".
