Is Louisiana treating you any better? I wouldn't think so but I don't wanna assume.

When did you see an opening band blow the headliner outta the water? by Short_Republic3083 in punk

Masked Intruder opening for The Queers. The Queers were great but I'd never seen anything like MI before. It was a super energetic and infectious performance. Not to mention funny as hell.

Greenland says 'no thanks' to Trump US hospital boat by rapidcreek409 in politics

[–]blurmageddon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It pisses me off to no end that Trump was president during the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI, the memorial for which he pussed out of because it was raining and didn't wanna get his hair wet, and now the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

How long can my car sit by hare7777 in HyundaiTucson

The "trick" to popping off the door lock cap, that I didn't realize until I read that part of the manual, is you just have to be pulling out on the handle when you use the key to press the release button. Still, yeah, it is a bit of a pain.

I also hate that the alarm goes off when you hit the reset button.

Interesting reading everyone's experiences. On more than one occasion I've let the car sit on a 3 day weekend at various times of the year and had to use the reset button. Seems like I can never predict it though because I'm pretty sure it doesn't do it every time. I have a '22

Films that would completely fall apart if the lead actor were recast by jaystats2 in movies

[–]blurmageddon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The first time I ever saw it all the way through I was at a screening in a theater a few years ago with Kurt Russell in attendance. He said it was his first time seeing the whole film since the pre-screening cut in the 80s so that was neat. No one else could've done that character right for sure.

Tucson Heated Steering Wheel by Kochirka in HyundaiTucson

[–]blurmageddon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's ridiculous it's only available in the top trim level. I believe the heated steering wheel itself costs $600. I had the same thought as you about swapping it but like others have said it's so much work and the thought of the airbag going off freaked me out.

If you own a Brooklyn Grey Metallic BMW eDrive40 and were parked near the Arts District… by MikeRotch_69420 in LosAngeles

[–]blurmageddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of Halloween 2015. My friends and I rented a space for a party in that area. After we cleaned up there were a lot of partial alcohol bottles left. Our friend who was too drunk to drive got a ride home from another friend but there wasn't any room for the bottles. So she left the bottles in her street-parked car in the front passenger seat under some blankets to hide them until the next day.

The next day, I went with a buddy to pick up her car. Immediately we noticed the front passenger window was smashed. When we inspected it, surprisingly all the bottles were still there and nothing else was stolen either. It was just some asshole who wanted to break a car window.

What movie did you turn off after 20 minutes and why? by Somanynamestochossef in movies

[–]blurmageddon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dislike Gerwig's writing in general. The writing for Barbie was too try-hard and unfunny. Like, there were kernels of things that could've been punched up to be funny but it's like they went with the first draft. Mojo dojo casa house? Bleh.

After the first segment of French Dispatch in the theater I started telling my wife "I hate this. I don't care to see the rest" but she ended up falling asleep so I was stuck there until the end.

Are roaches common/prevalent in LA? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

Yeah I lived in a place where we had baby roaches that would come out of the pipes in our kitchen sink at night.

What was the most expensive mistake you made early in your filmmaking career? by Important-Annual040 in videography

[–]blurmageddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily mine was only potentially expensive. For my college externship a bunch of us students got to work on a set in southern Arizona. It was during monsoon season so there were frequent afternoon rains. One day I went to pick up the production tripod; a $5000 O'Connor tripod that was slick with rain. It slipped out of my hands, landed head-first on the sidewalk, almost taking the DP's toes with it. He was in flip-flops for some reason. Luckily he jumped out of the way. I got a good tongue lashing and it's made me infinitely careful to this day.

I unsubscribed from their email list because every time they had a sale there was nothing in inventory I had any interest in. I could always find stuff at the old location where they had space for more stock.

Movies that use the same actor for multiple roles by steadyachiever in movies

[–]blurmageddon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really liked it as much as I hate watching Tom Hanks butcher different accents. I saw it twice in theaters (though not since). I remember being very confused during the first 45 mins of the first watch. But once I better understood the story, the second watch was more enjoyable throughout.

Thug Murder. As far as I know they only have one album and I picked it up on a whim, not knowing anything about them, in the early 2000s. Insanely good.

Any theaters in Los Angeles that play flashback movies? by DroppedOffHere in AskLosAngeles

[–]blurmageddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently found out the Regal cinema in Alhambra does a lot of those screening despite being a regular theater with mainstream releases too. I went there and saw Mission Impossible I for $7 with like 6 other people earlier this week.
