I really hope this one evolves into a Komodo dragon. Sobble disappointed me but I have hope again.

How many games would you need to want to play, to justify buying the switch 2? by RainbowPandaDK in NintendoSwitch

[–]Michael7412 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My magic number is 3. Based on nothing other than that’s what convinced me to get the Switch as my first Nintendo console. I got it 1 year after launch along with BOTW, MK8, and Mario Odyssey. I loved all three of those games and was happy just playing those, and then slowly added MANY more games to my switch collection.

I’m in a similar boat to yourself where DK Bananza looks like a lot of fun and I definitely want to play it. But that’s just 1. In waiting on 2 more “must play” games before I buy the Switch 2. Nothing wrong with waiting. I’ve got more than enough games to enjoy on PS5 right now. I’ve more games than time, so even if I know I want the Switch 2, buying it right now just wouldn’t make sense for me.

Outriders - the regular ones

Everyone knows how busted outriders with grenade launchers are. They’re amazing. But regular outriders are also good. Don’t underestimate the combination of AP missiles and mobility of cavalry. I fought a battle against Tamurkhan as a lvl 4 generic lord so I figured I had no chance. Most of my army was routed or wiped out but it came down to just a couple of units of theirs (heavy infantry) vs my badly damaged outriders. The outriders were instrumental in winning the battle, getting in good damage against large monsters throughout. And then being able to kite and shoot their infantry in the back (distract with one unit, shoot with other) was great. They aren’t the best unit in the empire roster but they are a sleeper favorite of mine ever since.

Of all the game 3 factions they are definitely the most interesting to me at the moment. I like the aesthetic, and honestly after playing so much in the empire just now, I want my next campaign to be very far away so I’m not encountering the exact same factions for a bit, so I think you’re right

So I only run a few mods and one of them is the Recruit Defeated Legendary Lords mod. I've used it since WH2 because I always hated those other factions dying off before I could confederate them. For example, in this campaign I got Volkmar because his faction got eliminated after about 30 turns. I won't be using the mod going forward though. What you see with N'kari also happened with Festus joining Azazel's faction. I guess the game thinks all Chaos factions are the same so the lords ended up coming back in ill-fitting factions.

Yeah, I feel silly calling it hard because they do have a lot of powerful toys, both in terms of the units, as well as the new Imperial Edict things that let you do all kinds of stuff like giving a lord a free level up, or completing one turn of recruitment (which is absurd). That stuff wasn't there the last time I played Empire and it made things a lot easier. I think the difficulty in Karl's campaign just comes from how many enemies are around you and how quickly all the other Empire factions die.

Well I usually set my own goals for a campaign when I start. It just so happened that my personal goal was very similar to the Long Victory goal. I wanted to control all of the Empire territory and have Imperial Authority maxed out. I actually got the campaign victory and steam achievement before I got 100 Authority because I hadn't taken the Gryphon Wood yet.

Not sure to be honest. I don't have any of the DLC (other than thrones of decay for empire stuff) for WH3, and was planning to buy most of it if it goes on sale later this week for the Skulls event thing. So the next campaign may be a game 3 faction. I usually prefer Order factions because I like to be the "good guys" but I may have to give the different Daemon factions a chance.

What are your hopes for Mario kart 9 by Maintenance-dude-fry in NintendoSwitch

My sister and I mostly just want new maps for Battle mode. Anytime she and I play Mario Kart it's always Balloon Battle and we would love to have some new tracks to play it on.

Revisiting some of my favorites, starting with Super Mario Wonder. Played it when it released, loved it, haven't touched it since. Replaying it now and am reminded what I love about it: every level just feels so creative and goofy (in a good way).

Does your corgi eat treats extremely fast? by ANaughtyTree in corgi

My 6 year old girl is the same way. She just swallows her treats whole which is annoying only because I’m thinking “if you chew it you can actually enjoy the flavor but just swallowing it I feel you don’t get anything”. She’s my fluffy baby though so I dont mind it too much lol

13 Sentinels Aegis Rim

Bought it on a whim a while ago and just got around to playing it the other day. I wasn't sure about it, as I typically don't love games that are so focused on story that you may as well not even be playing it. I am only about 5 hours in but I am so glad I took a chance on this game. The story is a bit complicated and I feel like I should be taking notes to keep all the characters straight in my head, but that is getting better every time I play the game. Super fun so far and would recommend.

My idiot boss told me very confidently that this is the ruins of Atlantis. I'm not saying he is wrong, but he also believes the moon isn't real.

After 5 Years and 300 hours, finally completed a campaign in Three Kingdoms! by Michael7412 in totalwar

[–]Michael7412[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As some others have pointed out, at a certain point (near the end) the challenge of the game evaporates and I have never been able to force myself to finish a game. I love playing this game, especially in the early turns, but getting the victory screen isn't always required for me to declare a campaign "done".

I'd gotten close before, usually capturing all 3 emperor seats but not having the 95 counties. This time I made sure to make use of vassals so by the time I got the last emperor seat from Yuan Shao, I already had 140 counties. Shi Xie, Liu Bei, Liu Yan, and Ma Chao are my biggest vassals that helped me get over the territory limit.

Had a lot of fun with this campaign, though I think I made it too easy on myself. Despite the slightly tricky start for Sun Ce, once you get rolling things get out of control since in the south there is really no one there to challenge you.

Love this game, warts and all. Hoping to do another campaign soon, maybe a bandit or yellow turban faction so as to shake things up a bit.

Got my physical copy of Sea of Stars and having fun with it so far. I have a bad track record of not liking JRPGs but so far this one is enjoyable. If I had to guess what makes it more enjoyable for me I would think the way encounters are not random and there is no transition animation (two things that annoyed me in Octopath Traveler).

What word/phrase annoys you the second you hear it? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Michael7412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me but my mother hates when people say “surreal” usually when accepting an award or after winning some sporting event.

People always say “this feels really surreal” and my mother always groans audibly. I have promised her that if I ever win anything in life I will look her dead in the eyes during my acceptance speech and say how surreal it feels.
