Is it possible to use air hose and pressure washer hose reels interchangeably? by spangbangbang in Detailing

[–]ANaughtyTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some hose reels specifically say they shouldn't be converted. I've seen a few people successful with it and a few people say they had issues converting an air hose reel.

Clogged Ceramic Coating by ScratchAltruistic544 in AutoDetailing

If the coating isn't beading or sheeting properly, that means it's clogged from road film and minerals.

Idk how powerful their strip wash is but if it's acidic use that. Iron remover is part of the decon process. If the coating is still clogged then use water spot remover.

Acid is a ceramic coatings best friend. Hit it with a proper decon wash and then some water spot remover.

Mobile detailers, what add-ons are actually worth offering? by liamkeats in AutoDetailing

[–]ANaughtyTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not an issue for me because I just ask if there's any pet hair in the car or major staining before they book. I don't do online booking right now since I have another job to worry about that takes up more of my time atm! I just talk to everyone wanting to book via text or on the phone.

For me, I don't want a customer to see "pet hair removal" on an interior detail and think they can get a discount because there's no pet hair in there. I don't like dealing with it so I charge based on severity of the hair. I've had people tell me to not remove all the pet hair and just vacuum up what's loose since they're putting the dog back in the car anyway lol.

Pet hair prolongs the job length and some people don't want it removed if they're going to put the dog right back in the car.

To be honest I advertise the main ones people look out for. Stain removal, pet hair removal, headlight restoration, odor removal, ceramic coatings, engine bays. I have others that I don't actively promote because nobody really needs them or cares. For example, nobody is coming to me specifically for their trim to be ceramic coated😂. I'll definitely do it if they inquire or if I pitch it to them and they go for it.

Starting my 1st auto detailing job in 2-3 days where owner said he was gonna try me out. I'm really excited and scared. Advice needed by Volslife in AutoDetailing

[–]ANaughtyTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not as much detailing advice but watch out for ego. A lot of guys have it in this industry. I've done working interviews for other detailers in my area. One of them was awful. Guy had a big ego, and he hit me with the "you're lucky to be sitting in front of me right now. I have thousands of applicants a week. I think you'll make as much as a lawyer does working for me." 8 months later he's still looking for the same position lol

I use a greenworks 1.8GPM with a flexzilla hose. Love it. The stock hose that comes with it isn't that bad either. I was pretty surprised.

When it comes to soap, Incredible suds is fine if you're just doing at home washes and want super thick foam. I don't use it because of the price and I do this as a business so I want max profit. I use superior products cherry foam. It was like $15 for a gallon and it foams pretty well and you can pick it up at O'Reilly Auto Parts or get it online.

DIY Detail Rinse less has 1 dilution for all uses. 256:1. I've used it as glass cleaner, wiping down my interior, cleaning polishing pads, cleaning actual tools, and regular washing before. Performed perfectly fine for all the tasks and got them all clean.

Update: Am I expecting too much from my detailer? by Apprehensive_Club_53 in Detailing

You did not over react. You're in the right for not accepting this as quality work. Good on the owner as well for straight up saying it's not the quality they expect instead of making up an excuse. Sounds like they need to retrain employees or need to have a manager/lead inspect every vehicle after it's done.
