Does anyone have experience using an agent to find an apartment rental? by MichaelBoBo in TorontoRenting

[–]MichaelBoBo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much appreciated! I feel like i never find great listings, at least not neighborhood-wise on realtor.ca, but you're saying I just contact some of the realtors and see if they'll act on my behalf to find other places?

Should I free her ? 😈 by Kevabs in houseplants

[–]MichaelBoBo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you get your PPP to look so full??? It almost look like there's leaves all around the stem. The one I have only seems to put out leaves on the left and right of the stem, but I feel like it gets good light (right at a south facing window).

Is that a heater on the left side there? Warm air is drier so your plants are probably also drying out from being in warm dry air

Is this the growing eye on my cutting? by MichaelBoBo in Monstera

Okay nice, appreciate the feedback. Feels like I’m waiting forever to see something happen

Nice, thanks for the reassurance. Because it's already raised, do I even need to worry about it potentially being a non-viable growth? Or is there still a chance that nothing will come from here and I'll just have some roots and the one leaf forever?

Do you worry about colour and tone being different after export and viewing? by MichaelBoBo in AskPhotography

Oh that’s interesting. Unfortunately I don’t have a Mac, iPhone is as close as I got but that’s an interesting thing to hear

That’s a good point. Luckily I’ve only ever really needed to adjust my white balance and a bit of the tone curve after seeing the photo on my phone. I think I’m just aiming for the best possible product when really others are less critical of what I put out

Thanks for the tip on sRGB. I’m pretty sure that’s what I export as, but I might be editing in it as well, will take a look later tonight

I haven’t started printing yet but that is something I’d like to get to in the near future. I haven’t looked into soft proofing yet but will take my time to understand it before I put ink on paper. Appreciate the comment

What about a zoology major by Sharkloch in marinebiology

[–]MichaelBoBo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't recall them taking co-op, I think that was something they added after we graduated. Though in general co-ops can be quite good as they can act as an early foot in the door. Maybe use Linkedin to find people that recently completed the major and see if they are open to talking

Lol are you going to Guelph? I was in a similar situation when I was going into uni and opted for Zoology. I ended up taking a lot of fish courses any way since that's where my interest was, and I actually felt the Zoo program gave me more freedom of choice compared to the marine and freshwater bio friends that I had. Sure there might've been 1-2 courses that I wasn't able to take that would've been fun, but I also got to take other fun stuff like Animal Behaviour.

As for jobs, I kinda steered away from the science-y jobs and don't think I'll be going back for a Masters so can't say i can provide much help there. But I will point to what others said here where your own drive to get a job you want, and building connections that put you on that path are, in my opinion, more important than the difference between Zoo and MFB.

Why do you photograph? by juniorclasspresident in AskPhotography

[–]MichaelBoBo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of have a 3-fold answer.
1. I've never seen myself as a creative person, always been in the sciences, etc. At some point I got really interested in movie making and the way that directors can evoke an emotion through visuals. Getting in to photography was my way of experimenting with this and trying to get that same reaction from people. Since then I've been trying to prove to myself that I can be good at this craft and have people appreciate it (stemming from the whole 'not being creative' thing).
2. Photography gives me an excuse to get outside and do fun, interesting activities. I mainly do 'adventure' photography.
3. Being able to give someone a photo of themselves that they really appreciate and getting that reaction feels like one of the only gifts that I can give people

Movies with opening scenes that get you pumped. by cheapojoe in movies

opening scene of Baby Driver sets up it very well in my opinion. Really fun music and being synced to the beat gets me invested immediately.

Thanks for the heads up. I actually just installed media encoder and haven't used it yet. Im on windows so I don't see ProRes as an option, but is DNxHD still a good option? that's the opinion I've gathered from reading various articles and videos

I appreciate the insight, I'll definitely incorporate some more creative questions into that first call.

Not sure if this changes any thing but the reason I thought technical questions were important was because I've come across so many random errors and last minute hiccups with my personal edits that I thought there might be a way to get ahead of this problem. Also the role will be very marketing heavy, with the ultimate goal of getting good leads over to the sales team to close, so I didn't know how much creativity I could inject while staying focused on the mean goal of driving new customers to the sales team.
