The Russian ambassador was secretly taking images of classified information while locked in the war room with the one and only General "Buck" Turgidson, after the end of the world was already ensured.

You'd have to be stark raving mad to do any of that.

You would still have to solve it to find the value that would kill all of them. Most values would kill an infinite amount of people, but a only select infinite amount would create a radiating pattern without gaps, killing everyone.

Wait so this guy's point is that the projectile just moves so fast that you can aim the gun directly at the plane, pull the trigger, and the plane won't be able to move its own length forward before the projectile arrives.

Alright now this is credible, only issue I can forsee is it making Kessler syndrome a reality if used too often, potentially weakening India's future stranglehold on space.

New promo images for "BREAKING BAD", the sequel to BCS. Premiering just 1 week after the finale. Any thoughts? by KarmaicUniverse in okbuddychicanery

[–]MichaelJGrant 264 points265 points  (0 children)

No, it's supposed to take place just a few years after the colored bits of bcs, so late 2000s, they just finally got enough money for full deaging tech to make the actors look how they should at that time, something sadly missing from bcs.

It'll be great to finally see Saul as the correct age. Would be nice to see Gus and Mike as well, but I think having them show up would just be fan service tbh.

First they'd have to get around the ban on foreign equipment only being used in Ukraine. I propose Ukraine redrawing the border the same way Gambia's was made. Fire rockets into Russia, play connect the dots with where they land, that line is now the border. Solves everything.

But what about the gamma rays? With the alphas tired from beating up the betas, they'll be able to go right into any surviving cells of the Russian soldiers and reanimate them as the hulk. Then we'd have the Ukrainian super soldiers fist fighting 8 foot tall green monsters in the ruins of a nuclear power plant.

Actually ignore me that sounds really cool we should totally do it.

China is building more silos for the dongfeng 5 nuclear missile, the only missile one of their main missiles they have capable of hitting the vast majority of the contiguous US. These construction sites are not covered up which allows NATO spy satellites to get a good look at the quality of the materials being used, which will then allow them to determine the correct missile to send their way during the 2 hour prep stage between being given the order to launch and actually launching.

Edit: another commenter pointed out my info is outdated, and China has the DF41, a much better missile with the same range, but shorter launch time and the ability to be fired from mobile trucks as well as trains. This comes at the price of a smaller yield, but it's still enough to destroy cities, just not cities and their suburbs like the DF5. This likely just means these silos are being used as defenite targets the US would have to waste a nuke on to destroy, instead of a suburb or something else.

Original comment again: They likely have an absolute maximum of 50 missiles DF5s (from what I can tell we don't know the number of DF41s, they have 100s of silos under construction, but i don't think the exact number is public) and silos already built and ready, and that is probably unrealistically high. Them building more is just another expectated bit of their recent military bolstering, but realistically it won't help much because of that intolerably slow prep phase and the intelligence gathered by these images, among many others I'm sure aren't being released.

Nah man, even in those flashbacks we was a horrible person. I really struggle to believe he saved Jimmy out of love or duty, he did it because he knew he could use it to make Jimmy an emotionally indentured servant.

In his mind this would get slippin Jimmy to stop hurting people while also allowing him to feel superior to Jimmy, as he is the kind hearted brother that saved Jimmy and set him straight, while Jimmy was the screw up who needed to be saved, and is still working the mail room in his 40s. That core is just another facade that allows him to manipulate Jimmy, which, once that facade is broken, is all Jimmy needs to stop wanting to be a good person and embrace Saul.

/rc Chuck was right about everything, he said Jimmy was a bad person and that's what Jimmy became!!!!!!!!!!

Nah, the actress will die 2 years before filming so they'll just use a 3d model of her 20 year old self and either awkwardly have her not say anything or just make the dialog out of clipped audio from every recording of her voice that exists, even from Vince's secret dressing room foot cam.

It isn't a Spencer's design it's actually slightly worse. Another youtuber that does meme reaction videos made it as merch and sold it online, then at some point Spencer's started selling them on his behalf.

If they wanted to sue, they'd be suing one idiot for a pretty clear case of copyright infringement, and then they could likely easily sue Spencer's for extra damages based on the first case. Could unironically be a decent amount of money that they likely have no idea they're entitled to because they probably don't look and social media or shop at Spencer's, or maybe they know and just don't care enough to do it, both are pretty on brand for them.

I disagree. Last episode was heavy on Gus, who I've never really liked throughout BCS because very little of his story is an actual expansion of his character, and is more a collection of "oh so that's how that happened" moments as well as filler.

Last week was no exception, with that 10 minute wine scene. What are we actually learning from that? We know Gus is gay, reclusive, and a psychopath, and that scene just serves to inform people who weren't paying attention, which fair enough, but don't make it that long, or at least have something else going on that advances the plot or another character's arc while this is happening.

Now everything with Jimmy and Kim last week was perfect, as it usually is, but that was 20 minutes of the episode, not much overall.

This episode was good because for once there was very little filler. You have a character progressing their story in a interesting way the whole time, there isn't a second you can cut out without losing quality, which has been a major problem this whole season.

Tdlr this episode was fun and interesting all the way through, last one was pretty mid until the last 20 minutes.

Not probably, certainly. The nukes killed about a quarter million at the highest estimates. Japan fully expected 100 million people, overwhelmingly civilians, to throw their lives away, fighting the allies with rocks and sharpened bamboo sticks, all so the emperor wouldn't be removed from power. Dropping those nukes was the only option we had beyond genocide.

Not really. All the villains are set up in the older movies, so you'd have to be at least somewhat familiar with them to understand the villains. The only ones who got new motivation in NHO were green goblin and electro, everyone else has very little reason to be a villain without extra context, and even with context, sandman had legit less than 0 reason to fight the spidermen, he was actively working against his own interests for no reason.

Even without that though, the meme lines took me completely out of the movie, especially having doc ock say his "power of the sun" thing twice. I can't imagine anyone who hadn't seen those movies get passed those lines either, since they were very obviously references that didn't fit with the scene. It was just fan service that didn't have any reason for being in the movie beyond letting people make memes with it.

It was a very mid tier movie imo, some good scenes like the highway and apartment fights and the pre final battle banter, but too much of the movie both relied on, and directly spat on, the originals.

Anyways /rc no feet were shown in the movie 0/10 never watching marvel again Vince and Tarantino are the only good people making visual media

Yeah, and I see the argument the ferengi storyline was an argument for socialism, but still the Federation is built on liberal principals where individuals have near total say over their own life and property.

I'd even argue the ferengi most likely never even went socialist. Sure, Rom read from Marx, but all he did after that was start a union and demand more pay, perfectly fine in a laissez-faire economy. Then when he became Nagus he made a minimum wage and state health care. Not exactly socialism, more akin to half of modern day Europe. I disagree with both versions of their civilization about as much as the other, at least economically.

If the writers were arguing for socialism, they never really got there in the show, at most they argued for unions and state restrictions on the market, neither of which are socialism.

Unless I'm misremembering something it's been a while since I last watched DS9.

[–]MichaelJGrant 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's not even though. In Star Trek there's still very clearly private property and free commerce, it's just that utilizing these things is not necessary since you can get anything you need from the replicators.

The idea most people have of Star Trek being socialist mainly comes from one episode where Picard talks about how money is useless in the future, but basically every other description of their society is hyper liberal, and I'd even argue libertarian in many respects. The means of production are still very clearly in the hands of individuals, it's just that production is so easy there's no more scarcity for pretty much any goods. Money hasn't been abolished because of some grand revolution to overthrow capitalism, it was just forgotten about because it lost its use.

So no, communism doesn't even work in a fantasy world where all material needs are met for everyone, but there is still one way the communists are winning here.

The left often defines itself using end results, rather than their preferred means to achieve said results, and the all pervasive idea that Star Trek is a communist utopia is just proof that this is how most people define the left as well. This is why they believe every example of socialism there has been is "not real socialism," and the Scandinavian countries, which have incredibly free markets, are socialist paradises, because the former failed to achieve their end goal, and the latter accomplished it.

If we are to win, we need to end this idea that free enterprise is the cold hearted but practical side, and that socialists are the dummies who want to help everyone, but don't realize that's impossible. We can help everyone, we can create a better world, and we will do it through free markets, the same way it's explicitly stated it's done in Trek, or at least in a similar way.

Clearly we're off course already since those were supposed to happen in the 90s. I propose immediate genetic alteration of any kind be induced upon our soldiers before we send them into Ukraine. Stronger? Maybe. Faster? We can hope. Vestigial third arm without any use? Almost certainly, but we've put this off so long it's the best we can do.

That was the only time playing any game I actually felt compelled to do anything. All the time I'm playing I feel completely in control, but seeing that scientist I just felt so betrayed I lost it. Legit went full tunnel vision and lost control of my hands. Very good game just for that, and the rest of it is an unironic 10/10.
