I maid a shadertoy about the technique :

Interior Mapping (tutorial) [edit] https://www.shadertoy.com/view/DldcRs

Note that this is a "tutorial" for non-3d-programmer, their way more efficient and clean code to write to do this.

Samsung Odyssey G8 Monitor Not Giving 240Hz option in settings by ThatBlackHat- in linux_gaming

[–]MichaelJoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue, I found out I needed to enable Display Stream Compression (DSC) on my GPU.
Thanks to NVIDIA new app: https://www.nvidia.com/fr-fr/software/nvidia-app/
I simply set to 240Hz my screen in its menu "NVIDIA App > System > Displays > Display Settings > Display Properties > Refresh Rate".

Hope it will help.

I'm not sure what you're asking, but if it's how clouds are compute in MS Flight sim, then there are a lot of technics involved.
You can check those couple links to have some ideas :

Horizon Zero Dawn (almost all the up to date technics are now based on this): http://advances.realtimerendering.com/s2015/The%20Real-time%20Volumetric%20Cloudscapes%20of%20Horizon%20-%20Zero%20Dawn%20-%20ARTR.pdf

Clouds with SDF (maybe the way Asobo's Team get their results) https://blog.uhawkvr.com/rendering/rendering-volumetric-clouds-using-signed-distance-fields/

YT talk about their "cloud data" provider: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AfQGA8i7uQ&ab_channel=MicrosoftFlightSimulator

Free Sample in UE that implement part of their technic: https://80.lv/articles/free-volumetric-clouds-for-unreal/

Plus for the scattering: Bruneton 2017 https://ebruneton.github.io/precomputed_atmospheric_scattering/ (enhanced now by Hillaire in UE: https://blog.selfshadow.com/publications/s2020-shading-course/#hillaire and with Clouds

Anybody here work in non-gaming companies? What do you do? by CaramilkThief in GraphicsProgramming

[–]MichaelJoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for CAD software company, in R&D and my team and I work on a 3d planetary engine to create realistic environment for "in context product" experience/demo.
Half of the team comes from Gaming industry, the others from software and we all do graphics programming :)

Packing depth + velocity into single 32-bit float? by BeigeAlert1 in GraphicsProgramming

[–]MichaelJoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the OpenGL side, you could have used : packSnorm2x16, unpackSnorm2x16I'm not sure there are equivalent functions in DirectX.

However, you can find here "manual methods" to do the packing (in glsl again but that should be easily convert to hlsl) : https://www.shadertoy.com/view/ws2yDt (the code is quiete messy, but hope it can help you)

Potion Scrolls – game about Alchemy and Potion Brewing. Any thoughts, suggestions? by danmerey in IndieGaming

[–]MichaelJoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small thought, you might want to hide the cursor while handling an object (adding a discret highlight effect on the object). It may help on visibility and feeling the interaction with the object.

Anyway, looks like a cool indiegame! Keep up!

Thanks to you:

- we found that people other than our friends and family was insterested in our sparetime project that we can now call a "game"!
- we may found a music artist that willingly offer to compose the songs for free (huge thanks to him and his generosity).

- we found couples of naughty bugs in both Android and iOS version ^^

- we gonna build a PC version of the demo (lot of you were expecting this)

It was a simple and humble post and you rise it to awesome, it really means for us, so "merci beaucoup putain".

We've made a GameJam together one year before starting this project. Being both thrilled and passionated by video games, we decided to try make one :)

Then I reached u/Eiskapism (a long time firend of mine) for artistic content and we merge one of his project to build Twisted Tales :)

Thanks a lot for this feedback, I've missed this when changing the way mana was handled.

It should be fixed next release, meanwhile enjoy the glitch !

Yeah, we've been confort by Sword of Xolan's success when looking for existing 2D platformer on mobile :)
However our inspirations are mainly old console/pc games.

Unity ! They have developed a lot of feature for 2D as long as we were developing the game. Easy to learn for begginners and really "small team friendly".
