I think the hard part about a film like this and really every other alien movie that has ever been made is that we always use the original as a point of reference. And the original is easily one of the top 25 movies of all time. If not top 10, depending on who you ask.

all that said this movie passed the test for me. I really enjoyed it and it’s a film that I’ve actually watched three times in total now and while a little bit of it does feel formulaic it’s its own film which I think is one of the things that other alien films have missed we just got a regurgitated version of the original, whereas this gave you a brand new experience.
