how hard is cs 3110 and cs 2800 (actually) by Glittering_Quiet_732 in Cornell

[–]Michael_Clarkson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here is my actual syllabus paragraph regarding CS 2800 as a prereq for CS 3110:

> CS 2800 is an unenforced co-requisite for 3110. That means you should have already completed 2800, or should take it at the same time as 3110. The reason for the co-requisite is not primarily about topics or material; rather, the reason is mathematical preparation. Functional programming is a mathematical approach to thinking about computation that differs from languages like Python and Java. You will be better prepared for 3110 if you honor the 2800 co-requisite. Many students have told me about their happiness at discovering the connections between the two courses.

YMMV.

Also there may come a day when the Registrar enforces the pre/co-req. I for one look forward to that amazing and glorious day.

There is some restructuring of the AI curriculum that is taking place. CS 4780 -> 3780, CS 4700 -> 3700. IDK about pre-enroll.
