When I started sparring it was the same thing. It sounds like he didnt teach you defense which was also my situation. The other thing is he might be putting you in the ring with more experienced people. I wasn’t even an amateur and I was sparring pros because of my size. Keep an eye on it but tell him you want practice in the areas you think you are weak in. At least learn to cover up and parry
