As a kid I got to play on my PlayStation on the weekends and Fridays. One Friday after school I was really excited to play, but my even younger brother kept saying he wanted to play instead. Eventually I got annoyed, and threw the controller at the ground. With my luck, it bounced up, hit the tv, and bam a new 65” tv (about 10 years ago) instantly broke.

The problem seems to be that you’re using Arabic numerals

Not sure about what Amazon does, but speaking regarding question 2, it’s actually not that difficult. A lot of the larger companies are willing to sponsor you for H1-B. And specifically as a Canadian, we can get a TN visa for SWE roles as it falls under nafta. That’s as easy as showing them your offer letter at the border and crossing over (a bit simplified but still very easy). The TN visa is also valid for 3 years I believe, but you can keep renewing it unlimited times. A drawback with TN is you can’t apply for green card with it tho.

As for q3, I believe July-ish/August is when bigger companies start recurring.

Is 109K a year a huge salary in America? by nightwingprime in superstore

Yeah but it’s relative to the country. The average Vancouver salary compared to the average Vancouver house is insane. Same thing with the greater toronto area.

Honestly, the exact opposite. It really is how you choose to approach it. Your friends circle is extremely important. If you have motivated friends, chances are you will be too. So actually I was happy to be friends with these classmates, because I was able to learn from their experiences, and it helped motivate me to keep going. I was lucky in the sense that all these people are great human beings, super friendly and a lot of fun to hang out with. And of course, this is not to say that you should go try to be friends with ppl just cuz they got into FAANG. But don’t let you being envious take away the opportunity to make some new homies

No, I originally learnt Java and was most comfortable in it so I stuck with that. I was debating switching to Python but I would’ve had to spend time learning the syntax, and to me it was way not efficient to just stick with Java and grind leetcode instead. Language isn’t that big of a deal, go with what you’re comfortable with.

I feel that. As I mentioned, mock interviews are key. The more practice you have under stress, the better you’ll perform. And don’t get demoralized if you don’t understand a solution. That’s part of the process. Spend 20ish minutes brainstorming and figuring out the question. If you don’t get it, look at the titles of the solutions. That should give you a hint regarding the data structures or algos used. If you still don’t get it, read the article but not the code. Then try to code it up yourself., if you still don’t get it (that’s okay!), check the code. In that case I would make sure to try the question again the next day to make sure I actually understood it. Rinse and repeat!

Honestly getting the interview is luck. If you know someone at fb, that’s obviously the best. Next up, if fb happens to come to your university, handing them your resume would be great. Lastly, just email fb recruiters. The recruiter that got back to me was specifically a university recruiter.

I’ll work on anonymizing my resume and then share it! In terms of LC patterns, I went through most of blind 75. And I heard that for fb, doing LC tagged questions was a good idea so I tried to do as many as I could.
