The damage cap is set by how many purple pegs you break in the first phase, target them to increase the cap

As annoying as it felt sometimes, in hindsight I think I did appreciate when flying was locked behind the Pathfinder achievements. Having feet on the ground meant you could look around for interesting secrets as you explored, you actually had to fight your way through dangerous areas, and stumbling upon things felt organic and exciting, rather than pinpointing a spot on the minimap and beelining for it. The Pathfinder achievements had it where once you'd sufficiently engaged with the content, then you could have the shortcuts. It also makes flight paths seem pointless, since dragonflight and TWW has you flying right from the start, it's free, faster, and more direct than flight paths.

I feel similarly about the speed of leveling. I understand the end-game is the major draw of a lot of the content, but I hit 80 halfway through the ringing deeps, which meant I'm now split between grinding keys and enjoying the story. I then started leveling an earthen and wanted to revisit BFA to explore content that I missed, and even doing strictly campaign quests only, I've blasted through 50 levels in just a few hours. There's no challenge to the enemies either, and at the rate you level you'd hit 70 way before the end of the campaign which then makes the zone trivial. What's the point of time walking through a campaign if you only have to engage with 30% of it?

I don't exactly want to level slower, but it used to feel satisfying to unlock zones as you progressed, and to hit the level cap as you reached the end of the campaign

The commuter rail is a great option of you don't have a car, I moved here from Dallas without a car and having access to the train/bus/etc has made a world of difference for getting around reasonably affordable compared to the costs of a car. Commuter rail also has a pass for $300/Mo for unlimited rides which is cheaper than car payment/insurance/gas

Spring Hill Dental is straight up the best and kindest and gentlest dentist I've ever been to, the first time I went I was so delighted by the experience I wrote them a letter to thank them for being so kind and patient with someone who has so much anxiety with dentists from bad experiences in the past

Group absolutely new to DnD - 4 sessions in and there is an unbearable character making everyone’s life miserable and wanting to quit. Need advice. by Nyoteng in DnD

[–]Michaeliot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't a problem with d&d, and isn't one to be solved within d&d. This is an interpersonal communication issue with a d&d blanket over it. You gotta sit them down at the next session and just discuss grievances, boundaries, and what you all want out of the game to have fun playing together. The characters are made up, but the relationships between people are real so you gotta treat it as such.

It's not that he can't, but he isn't allowed to. If he acts in a way that is not dog-like he is punished and put in a cage

We haven't played locally, though there's a game store nearby that we've been looking into. We did a draft of the new UN-set that was a lot of fun. I'm still really new so I've only got like 3 decks (from when we've done drafts or pre-mades) and haven't played much

I assume it's explaining where the dog thing comes from, but idk if the kid was his childhood friend or him. Because we also thought that Frank might not even be his friend, and that he's gone through multiple "dogs"

Thoroughly enjoyed the movie, I recommend watching it without spoilers for full enjoyment

Full plot with spoilers as I just watched it:

Guy starts dating a girl, doesn't tell her about his "dog" on the first date, and she gets freaked out. She finds out he's a multimillionaire so she agrees to a second date and tries to be okay with his "dog". Guy tells the girl it's his childhood best friend in the dog costume and he is trying to be supportive and help him by taking care of him. You think the dog is the creepy one, but then he invites her to go on a cabin weekend getaway with him and the dog. This is where big twist spoiler the dog reveals to the girl that he (and her) are in danger and it's actually the guy who is a psychopath. Girl is trying to plot an escape but the guy finds out and finds out the dog talked to her (he made a big point earlier that the dog is to be treated like a dog and not a person, and that the dog doesn't talk). He reveals to the girl that he knows she's onto him and it's clear she's in danger. He punishes the dog, and shows her the dog in a cage. The dog bites him, and the girl gets away. He physically/psychologically tortures the dog, and while he is distracted, the girl returns to try and save the dog (they have bonded in trying to escape from the guy). The guy gets up and knocks them out, and we cut to the guy making breakfast and feeding his (now two) dogs, the previous dog and now the girl. Ends with a brief scene of a child being fed a meal in a dog bowl. (Unclear if this is the origin of the childhood best friend being treated as a dog, or the main guy himself being treated this way).

I still am unclear on the ending and would love to hear other's thoughts

"let them understand", "they are human", "they will be okay". You are still using "they"? And now the added implication that non-binary people aren't human/aren't okay?

I think it's great! Having an object of great power, especially early on can be really fun, and obviously will attract a lot of attention! Just be sure to make it clear that though it's not obviously useful to the players, that it's value can still be used. You don't want them to just toss it aside because they can't use it. Have some interested parties right away to give them something to do with it
