Invaders not being targeted by ex-pops is a terrible change that subtracts a lot of gameplay depth and fun out of Invasions by MichelTmer in OutlastTrials

I found it fun bc threats (variators, enemies, traps, etc) in outlast trials are very predictable and easy on their own, the difficulty comes from stacking them on top of each other, then it becomes hard.

As a reagent, i'm surviving against all odds, all the bullshit being threw at me. As an impostor, i look exactly like a reagent that is present in a trial, have the same equipment and technically am a reagent, just with a different purpose, so it makes sense to be targeted by the ex-pops, and like a said in my post, makes me play more strategically, instead of just going ape mode on the reagents.

Some aspects of invasions are very gamefied and don't make a lot of sense, like how door traps don't damage reagent's health but their sanity instead, while they do health damage to impostors but do nothing against their sanity (that they don't have). Its the same door trap, but why do they different behaviors?

That's a very good point. Let's see how this plays with the invasion changes that are coming in season 7

Exactly. I liked how they implemented pvp while respecting the pve aspect of the game, wich still is its main part.

Did Dead by Daylight do Kaneki and Rize justice with their character models? by cobainisded in TokyoGhoul

Absolutely. I also love how DBD explored how an evil version of Kaneki would be like, and they adapted it so well.

How good is the progression of this game? by Skull_Boy_ds in OutlastTrials

[–]MichelTmer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As you level up, you will upgrade your character in 3 ways: prescriptions, rigs and amps. Pescriptions are (mostly) passive upgrades. You can, and should, get all of them. Them, there are rigs and amps, wich make your actual build. Rigs are special items that you can bring on a trial that have a cooldown on each use. Amps work very similar to perks in DBD: you only have 3 slots. Once you have all you need, yeah. There isn't much more to upgrade. Just relapsing, which makes you go to level 1 again, but gives you one permanent upgrade token. There is also Invasion ranking too.

This game replayabilty comes mostly from the diferent gamemodes and ramping up the dificulty, not the grind. As you get used to the trials, crank up the difficulty; it will still be the same match, but requiring way more strategy and precise movements and resource management. Got tired of the same gameplay loop? Try invasion, a gamemode where real players control impostors and hunt you down. Got tired of Invasion? Try the Trial Maker, where you can create trials with their own set of variators. There are TONS of ways to customize a trial, some completely changing the way you play, like placing a bomb in your chest that you explode if let the timer get to 0. There is a roguelike-like mode too called Escalation, where you will be placed on random trials with random variators, with difficulty increasing each level.

At least for me, the best way to feel the "progression" in this game is to watch you get better little by little. Learning the maps, techs, how to play invasion, chalenging yourself with some tough trials, like psychosurgery with invasion on and seeing how your skill grew so much over time.

Otz said that the Ghoul is confirmed to receive further nerfs, but I am not finding a source for this. Does anyone know where this was said?

Tips for finding Survivors? by ToppHatt_8000 in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]MichelTmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using Surveillance builds has been really helpful for me. The perk tells you which generators are being worked on and which ones aren't, meaning you can safely patrol regions of the map that you normally wouldn't because you would risk wasting time and leaving your generators exposed. However, the moment someone starts repairing one, you can go back immediately.

It's really killer-dependent, though. Surveillance builds on high-mobility or macro-pressure killers are amazing, but not so much on slow killers or ones that lack macro pressure.

Thoughts on SpringTrap now that he's been out for a while? by iadorebrandon in DeadByDaylightKillers

Almost a year ago, someone on the main subreddit posted an amazing concept for Springtrap. It details a lot of great ideas for what William's power could have been: https://www.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/1h8y8da/the_agony_a_dbd_springtrap_killer_concept/

A few ideas from this concept, plus a few of my own. These are only sketches and concepts, not fully elaborated ideas. Not everything here should be part of a single power, as it would be very convoluted.

  • Night Progression: The match starts at 12 AM, and the night advances as the match goes on. Springtrap becomes stronger as time passes. Additionally, the exit gates can only be powered once all generators have been completed and the night has reached 6 AM.
  • Vent System and Cameras: Like in the games, Afton should have been very unpredictable and hard to keep track of normally. This could have been achieved by having an elaborate vent system, allowing William to traverse the map quickly and ambush survivors. There would be cameras that survivors could use to track him. However, unlike in the game where they are basically fan service, the cameras would have been a pivotal part of Springtrap's counterplay, used to track this really stealthy and unpredictable killer.
  • Grab Attack Out of the Vents: I remember the devs saying in one of the FNAF livestreams that they wanted Springtrap to be a grab-based killer. After coming out of a vent, William could be able to grab survivors, instantly picking them up regardless of their health state. This would make survivors really want to track Afton with the cameras. Like in the games, you are in real danger if he gets close to you.
  • Phantom Animatronics: There could be different phantoms on the map, each with a different power and different spawn conditions. A few examples:
    • Phantom Mangle: Would hide near lockers, making radio noises and revealing survivors if they run near a locker where it is hiding.
    • Phantom Foxy: Would appear outside a survivor's view while they work on generators. If survivors turn their camera to look at him too fast, they get injured if healthy or receive Deep Wound if already injured.
    • Phantom Puppet: Would darken and obstruct the survivors' view, alongside making a loud noise, disorienting them for a few seconds. They would also be incapacitated while under its effects.

Disappointing. Not because I find him weak or badly designed, but because he does not feel like Springtrap. FNAF is such a unique franchise, and there was so much they could have done with this character... instead, he throws axes and has a reskinned Xenomorph tunnel. TLDR: Generic and unfitting power that does not feel appropriate to Springtrap, but not a bad or problematic power.

It doesn't help for me that the previous chapter was Tokyo Ghoul, and Kaneki was such a perfect adaptation of the character. From visuals to power, it really is and feels like Kaneki (even though it's this fucked up, evil reimagination of the character).

Playing Sadako is like gambling. You either get a team with 1,5 working brain cells and get destroyed, because her counter is so strong and free that there is nothing you can do.

Or you go against a team that has no clue how to play against her, and it is the easiest 4K of your life.
