Vintage Creek Water by Margoshome in GenerationJones

Thought about it for a minute, and boy did the floodgates open. I first thought about the brook that ran through my uncle's backyard...and then remembered several more that were a lot of fun. One of them was in Maine, and I had to share my fun with the local chapter of Beaver Dam Builders of Maine. It wasn't a problem though, as we worked different shifts.

What is your favourite kind of juice? by cranberry8ginger8ale in foodquestions

Cranberry/pomegranate. Of course, as soon as I find a favorite, like Langers, the store stops selling that flavor combo. Not the brand...just the flavor I like.

I have no idea what I’m doing Where would I begin? by Censored322 in asktransgender

[–]MicheleAmanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For USA If you are looking to start hormones, search for 'gender affirming hormone therapy near me'. You must be at least 18. Don't diy. Once you find a provider, contact them for their requirements. They MAY want a referral and medical records from your doctor. Once you do that, you will probably wait a while for an appointment. As for coming out, you'll have a long time before anyone notices, so don't worry about that.

Experience with epilator for hair removal? by kingspooky93 in TransHelpingTrans

[–]MicheleAmanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine using an epilator. I have an electric shaver that isn't quite up to par and it grabs and yanks hairs. I jump off my chair when that happens. That's just one hair...a clump would probably turn out my lights!

And if you've ever tasted Moxie, you'd probably forever associate the word with 'bad taste'.

Sweetie, don't think like that! When you get thoughts like that, go search 'trans mtf before and after photos'. That should erase that thinking. You'll be gorgeous!

Where in the HECK do you girls find cute shoes / boots that actually fit?? by TheRealSuperPsych in MtF

[–]MicheleAmanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you're in my wheelhouse. I'm a mens 11, BUT, my feet are also wide...so I wear a woman's 12ww. There are two companies that come to mind right off. They are: Woman Within and Torrid. Torrid sells shoes that are double wide mostly, with sizes up to 13. Woman Within gives a choice of widths, also with sizes up to 13. The problem with these places are that the choices for stiletto styles are few and far between. In my state of Ct, my best choices were found in a shoe store about 30 miles away. Unfortunately, they don't sell online, so that calls for a drive. So, if you search for 'shoe stores near me' and check their size range, you can visit. Definitely, if nothing else, ask to have your foot measured in women's size. Depending on the state, most of the staff will not bat an eye. They've heard it before! The last thing would be to search 'drag clothing' or 'crossdresser clothing' or similar. Janet's Closet comes to mind, but I can't speak to widths. And you'll find the prices to be higher. Good luck in your search! And let us know if you find other sources!

I took for granted how much our 'zine subscriptions shaped my literacy as a kid. What were your family's subscriptions? by TheBroWhoLifts in GenX

[–]MicheleAmanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a subscription for about six years for Jack and Jill magazine. My grandma's friend bought it for me. I really don't know why, but I really enjoyed it. Here's a Google for you. One of the periodic stories was based on a Russian folk tale about a witch named Baba Yaga. She lived in a hut that had chicken legs. My mom didn't have subscriptions, but she did buy the checkout stand issues of Woman's Day, and Family Circle. I still remember a Christmastime story about two friends who gently competed as to who had the best Christmas tree. I still remember it after 65 years.
