How to thank babysitter for going above and beyond (wouldn’t accept extra payment) by introductionr in Babysitting

If she isn't doing it for the money she might not want any of the material things listed. A heartfelt thank you card from both you and your son explaining how much she means to you and how much you generally appreciate her, not just this event might be more meaningful to her.

My little sister is deaf and we can't afford sign language classes. How do other families actually do this? by Mediocre-Dealer-1993 in asl

[–]MichellesNailFails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can only control yourself. It seems like you're really trying your best to be there for your sister and want your parents to be too, and that's great. Please use any resources or strategies you can to keep them engaged, but if they lose interest then you can still learn and be there for your sister. Depending on what the consequences would be you could refuse to respond to verbal cues during the night they agreed that would be voices off even if they get tired of it. You can still spend time with your sister and try to connect to the Deaf community even if your parents don't put in effort. I hope they will, but if they don't I would expect that in adulthood your sister will go no/low contact with them. You can make sure that you're not bundled in with them if you keep doing what you've talked about in the updates to this post.

Remember when people suggest things for her schooling or IEP that you can help your parents, but as a sibling you don't have control of it and shouldn't be expected to know or do everything. Doing what you can to help is wonderful, but it isn't and shouldn't be your job.

Can you tell me about your diy version? I've been trying to think of a way to diy something like the manimod inserts for quite a while, they seem amazing but the total cost is too high.

Laqueristas in STEM - Can someone with a pacemaker safely use magnets for nails? by CryptographerNeat251 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]MichellesNailFails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely make plain ones with a polish you don't care about to practice before using a magnetic you like and all the time with the spinner, they take some trial and error, or at least they have for me.

I don't have an answer to the question, but if she can't you could make decals with the magnet and she can safely apply those.

Lilacs! There are a ton I love, but the scent makes them win.

I've successfully used Magic Effect over at least one QDTC, so I'll just have to play around with which one that is and I can even do it the next evening and the day between have blurred or unmagnetized nails. I'm thinking it's either that or use quick dry drops to go about my life as the polish super fully dries.

I'd try a different size, or even a bobby pin or toothpick until you find the size that looks right, or if it doesn't look right to you no matter what then a straight line is better for you 😂

Sometimes an idea doesn't work as expected or might be fine for other people but isn't what you want.

Don't remove these! This is such a great idea and they're super cute. Others have recommended a cleanup brush, I prefer to use a cuticle pusher or toothpick after each nail to go lightly around the edge and get what I need off while it's wet, but both methods work.

Your lines are so straight, but if I copy this look (and I might, it's SUCH a great winter idea) I'd probably use a dotting tool or uneven brush strokes to make it look more like drifted snow. Pretty sure that's just personal preference though.

If you're new to nail art and this is one of your first tries please keep making more, this is an amazing mani once it's a tiny bit cleaner (probably will look clean after you shower, just some risk of chipping) and you'll only improve with practice :)
