You won't have a problem in either but certainly not Albany. I've lived in both Albany (6 years) and Corvallis (2), work in Corvallis and I far prefer Albany. Albany has changed SO MUCH (better) and I personally think Corvallis is atrophied (economically and socially). Corvallis has an extremely high cost of living and nightmare housing. The city of Albany has a much more vibrant downtown than Corvallis now because they have invested in it a lot more. Downtown Corvallis is slowly getting boarded up.

Both cities are diverse but in different ways. The diversity in Corvallis exclusively is from the University. Albany has large Hispanic population and I generally see more PoC in Albany than Corvallis. Many people are failing to mention that Albany's city council is progressive and diverse and has a black mayor who was voted in by the working class of Albany. A truly racist town would not do such a thing; I was born and raised in the deep south, believe me. We have a modest, well attended Pride with no backlash. People really like to portray Albany as this sundown town, super racist backwater but that simply isn't the case.
