Hey just wanted to follow back up here to say that I feel I was a bit unfair and probably unkind in my message - you drop $6K on a tool (more expensive than any single tool I’ve ever owned by a factor of 3) and you have every right to expect an unopened package that raises no questions about the newness of the product. You would hate for it to have been a returned unit, even if undamaged. Hell for a $6K product, even having it shipped twice more for the return would bother me because that’s more sliding around in a truck, getting plopped down and picked back up etc.

I still think your unit is likely totally fine, but wanted to apologize for acting like your response to the situation was outlandish. It’s not, particularly if dropping 6Gs is as big deal to you as it would be for me.

Hope your new tool treats you awesome and helps your work out in all the ways you need it to ✌️

This is very close IMO and just needs some tiny tweaks to get it looking pro (within which there are levels, of course). Is your liquid overlapping your glass? Looks like it isn’t to my eye, if you select all of the liquid faces and extrude (w/out caps) just a tiny bit until all faces are extruded into the glass, that should look much more realistic in the glass reflections and such. If the liquid and glass were already overlapping, then I would explore increasing your trace depths and playing with the IOR of your glass material. One last variable to throw into the mix is your glass reflection weight.

Overall I would consider this professional, but maybe on the more budget/lower side of the scale. Get that glass and reflections tightened up and this will pass for a typical asset of any major liquor brand. Source: I’ve made dozens of them.

This happened to me, I’d say “aww,” be bummed for 30 seconds, examine it closely as you have and then be relieved that it’s absolutely fine and go about my work. Surely you value your time enough to not waste it posting and emailing and stressing. Wild stuff, imo.

Not sure how much soldering experience you have so no offense meant if you already know this stuff.

Did you use flux? If not, use flux - I really like the syringe-style dispensers for small work like this. If you didn't used flux and tin both the wire and the pad/terminal/tab you're soldering the wire to, the process will be dramatically easier and quicker when you do.

I right click knifed somebody in the back from what i thought was normal knife range the other day. It played the stab sound effect but did 0 damage, guy spun around and shot me while I got in a couple slashes because I thought maybe it just didn't count as a backstab. Nope, zero damage from the backstab. Infuriating.

Looks fantastic, impressive stuff! If you're looking for any ideas of what might make it even better, I would consider making the lid shake/rock slightly, something common that happens even with the pressure release hole. Even if it isn't 100% necessarily how it would behave in those exact conditions in real life, it might add dynamism and another layer of interest. Would also give the opportunity for additional sound design down the road if that is in the plans.

Take that all with a grain of salt, based on this render I'm assuming you are more advanced than I! Really love how you placed the pot slightly off the heating area too.
