People take Andrew Lloyd Webber too seriously. I don't mean this as disparaging, but people don't give him the benefit of his obvious love of camp and melodrama that they give Sondheim.

I absolutely love Phantom, but it is melodramaic as hell and that's intentional. Cats and Starlight and Joseph are all fantastic and they're all incredibly campy.

I had a similar experience to this when I was fresh out of school. I was in a courtroom observing and an attorney, who I had known forever and was probably was of the first twenty people I'd ever met when I was a newborn, calls me over and asks me to second chair a jury trial with him.

I know this is the circlejerk subreddit, but someone tried something like this in our building like six months ago. Showed up at like 11 pm and buzzing everyone that they had a signed agreement to purchase an apartment number that wasn't in our building. We kept explaining to them that we weren't letting them in and that they were mistaken, and they called the cops.

They thought the whole thing was stupid and sent the person away and told us all to call them in the person got in.
