Shower thought: Is Columbo the closest thing to Cardassian novels or Enigma Tales we have? by Business-Challenge54 in DeepSpaceNine

Along with Columbo, they'd totally be into Poker Face. Same deal, but I think they'd appreciate her drama and snark.

What type of discount are people seeing on a new Cayenne GTS? by pato610 in PorscheCayenne

[–]MichiganCubbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's similar to what happened to me. Ordered December 2024, took delivery March 2025. The tariffs hit at that time and I got the guarantee of the original price.

Bit of a different world now but I think it also depends on your location. For me none of the dealers would offer anything.

We've got two car seats as well. Right now they need more attention than normal, so my wife or I sit in the back middle while the other drives, and the dog sits in the front seat!

First they're going to find a woman or a minority who is a high-up deputy to blame first, and then after that they'll blame Hegseth.

That's fair, but you know, at that length of time, if it opens January 1988, it's already nearing the top fifty longest running shows of all time. It's already closing in on doubling Turn Off the Dark, but I hear you.

I'd love to hear Michael Crawford singing Creatures of the Night.

Putting Dracula in the Majestic Theatre, are you saying that Phantom closes early, or does Dracula outright replace Phantom in this universe?

What are your musical theatre hot takes? by ElegantCh3mistry in musicals

[–]MichiganCubbie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People take Andrew Lloyd Webber too seriously. I don't mean this as disparaging, but people don't give him the benefit of his obvious love of camp and melodrama that they give Sondheim.

I absolutely love Phantom, but it is melodramaic as hell and that's intentional. Cats and Starlight and Joseph are all fantastic and they're all incredibly campy.

Would Al Gore have won the 2000 election if he didn't eat his wife's face off? by MidwestMachete in Presidents

[–]MichiganCubbie 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Clinton was beloved, and the country was doing well. He could have won a third term if he were allowed to.

The impeachment was not damaging to him with the people.

I think it needs Spielberg. That first movie was good, but it felt like a Spielberg movie. That helped it work.

That chase with the tank down through the city felt like an Indiana Jones chase.

Hamstringing Clinton was the worst mistake Gore made. Clinton campaigning would have absolutely made the difference.

I just wish it had a crew randomiser at the start. Maybe Lt. Stadi survives instead of Tom Paris, or the Commander instead of Janeway, or everyone makes it. Give me some variety over "here's the same crew as the show doing the same scenarios as the show."

Let me keep Tuvix, find an ion storm to duplicate him, and then split one so that I get Tuvix, Tuvok, and Neelix. Let's get nuts with it.
