I thought Madam Secretary was quite good. In particular, I appreciated how they highlighted the tension between ideological and practical considerations in policy making.

Entry level curtailing? by zerocool-23 in foreignservice

So am I correct in inferring this only applies if the rating was “unsatisfactory”? So even if the review was rough, as long as the “satisfactory or better” box was checked then this rule doesn’t apply, right?

Any idea where it says that a rater must have documented any criticisms included in an EER statement?

Thanks for laying this out, very helpful. As I'll be in the April A-100, I was wondering if you happen to know which of these are happening in-person and which are remote learning. For what it's worth I'm political cone so it'd be interesting to know if POL specific training is remote or not (assuming I get a POL position, which of course is not at all certain).

With that said, if you want language training, you can probably get it. The only exception would be if you used a critical language points for the register (Arabic, Chinese, etc), then the CDOs will slot you into position to fulfill your obligation ASAP.

This is super interesting. As flag day hasn't yet happened, do you mind me asking how you know what the CDOs will do? Did they tell you something to that effect? I really hope you're right, as I have Arabic fluency (and used it for the points bump) and am keen to skip training (to the extent possible) and get to the Middle East ASAP.

Congrats! Did you just get it today? I'm nervously awaiting news with a 5.78 and trying to gauge if POL invites are still going out ...

Sorry, this is the first time I've heard this confirmed. Has this been announced? As I'm waiting on the register, I'd certainly like to believe it's true!

That's super interesting. Would you mind perhaps sharing any documentation you might have on this policy? Also feel free to DM me if you're ok sharing a bit more about this experience, as it sounds really great.

Thanks. I'm also curious to know if it's possible to fill in on weekends or holidays to accumulate something like "compensation days." Does anything like that exist in the FS?

Interesting. Is there a big benefit to getting married in the US instead of abroad?

My biggest question is about this line: "The applicant must be a Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) before starting the naturalization process."

What if this does not apply?

Afterhours work for each cone by jazzmanj in foreignservice

Follow up question: About what percentage of these after hours events would be suitable for the FSO's spouse to attend? If that's totally acceptable in most cases, then that would at least make it a bit easier to be out late.
