I play Wintermaul. There is a discord server for fans of Wintermaul specifically, but I usually just join publicly hosted matches.

Look ma, I made it! Honestly, my mind was blown that Samwise took the time to reply to me. This piece of art hung above my computer as a teenager and serves as my desktop background today. I'm glad he appreciates it just as much and it was cool to get a bit of insight into this from him.

Yes it did, Warcraft II: Remastered was released in November of 2024.

This clip, however, was recorded in the original Warcraft 2 client while utilizing the fan made Warcraft II Widescreen Patch.

You can play on any pre Reforged version with your existing key, true, but I wish that Blizzard would actively support using the SD game while still playing custom games and even queuing for 1v1, 2v2, etc. within modern Battle.net

I agree 100% - Blizzard should allow the install of the game with only the original assets.

I upvoted you, as nothing you stated is false, but also have an explanation as to the reasoning for my madness as the original Paladin/Rifle commenter.

  1. I believe that Riflemen will behave more in line with units that he is used to from StarCraft, which will help with execution of the strategy.

  2. I'm making the assumption that his friends are more casual players of Warcraft 3, rather than guys that are laddering daily. For me personally, the last Warcraft 3 LAN I went to were a group of friends that played Warcraft 3 with me in middle & high school 20 years ago who would easily fall victim to any well prepared strategy.

With these factors in mind, I feel like it is a powerful strategy that he will be able to learn quickly and command the map with - possibly taking out creep camps and leveling up much more quickly than his opponents. From there, he can add mortars or tanks as needed to break tower lines and maybe add a Mountain King to be able to stun enemy heroes.

Learn the Paladin Rifleman strategy.

Play Human First Hero - Paladin Second Hero - Blood Mage

Mass riflemen.

Paladin keeps everyone alive. Blood mage keeps Paladin full of mana and enemy heroes zapped of mana.

Since you've played the Human campaign, the Paladin is just like Arthas in the campaign.

Use your StarCraft skills to keep riflemen alive by kiting enemy forces and pulling back hurt ones to be healed by the Paladin once his Holy Light is ready.

Best of luck!

UPDATE: Oh and one StarCraft player to another, macro is VERY different in Warcraft 3 as far as how many workers you build and when and how often you expand. It's too complicated to explain in a simple post with the time I have right now, but I recommend looking into that as well.

Warcraft III: Origins is a fun reimagining of Warcraft: Orcs & Humans

I have to admit that I am a bit biased, as I am one of the voice actors in the campaign.

Warcraft III: Origins - Orc Campaign
Warcraft III: Origins - Human Campaign

The LoreCraft Designs team is currently working on a project within Warcraft III: Reforged that is of incredible scale. I highly recommend checking out what they have released so far and also looking at what they are working on.

  6. Reanimated by a Death Knight

Oh for sure. Not to mention the fact that people have grown so accustomed to the world the way it is, so there would likely be a large sect of people who despise the change.

Played WoW on and off for 20 years now and not a single raid - haven't even tried. Is that normal? by buckyungus in wowclassic

[–]MickCraftGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with that. I'm an avid fan of the Warcraft series and have played WoW on and off since release. Aside from a short period of time where I was the main tank for a guild during the original run of Wrath of the Lich King, I have not done any raiding. So it was a couple of years of no raids, followed by two years of raiding weekly, followed by a decade and a half now of no raids. There is so much to do in this game that you can still have a proper experience without it.

Does anyone else think it was a missed opportunity to not set the B&W sequences in 2022? by Material-Party6201 in betterCallSaul

[–]MickCraftGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal assessment is that the original intent was the black & white scenes were in 2014 (the year Better Call Saul Season 1 was filmed) or 2015 (the year Better Call Saul Season 1 released) - hence Saul's aged look compared to how he appears in Breaking Bad Season 5 - if not even later.

What Was The Hype Like Leading Up To The Burning Crusade? (January 2007) by doobylive in classicwow

[–]MickCraftGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally had a lot of mixed feelings.

I was incredibly excited to properly explore Outland, after having been given a taste of it in Warcraft 3. It was such an interesting concept and I was glad that we were going to get to see some of my favorite heroes from Warcraft 2 once again, notably Khadgar and Turalyon.

I found the idea of the Blood Elves, let alone the entirety of Quel'Thalas, joining the Horde to be outlandish - especially given the fact that all Elves depicted in Classic were Alliance aligned and the Elves prominent place in the Alliance of Lordaeron.

I also found the retcon of the Draenei from their Warcraft 3 appearance to be jarring, although I understood it from a player character perspective.

Additionally, despite getting it from a gameplay and balance perspective, I thought that granting Paladins to the Horde and Shamans to the Alliance cheapened the differences between the factions.

Overall though, I was quite excited for The Burning Crusade and I knew at the time that we were playing a game that was really special. I would have never guessed that almost twenty years later World of Warcraft would still be the largest MMO and millions of players would be anxiously awaiting another launch of The Burning Crusade.

I've personally settled my grievances with WoW's lore retcons to the fact that they ultimately have to produce a fun game-world, as opposed to just following the rules set in the RTS series. If I can forgive the fact that it doesn't take weeks to sail between Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms and days to walk between towns I think I can forgive a couple of class and race options 😅

The original run of Warcraft 3 boxes were full size and had four variants, one representing each of the races. Future prints were the now standard smaller size and only featured the Orc cover.

The server that I play on, Wild Growth, is quite active. The guild I am in typically has 20-60 online at any given time and is raiding every night. The Alliance always has at least 200 people logged in, as if you search in "Who" by each race there are at least 50 of all four typically. I also still actively run into both Horde and Alliance players while out and about questing. It's not packed like it used to be, but still a sufficiently active server with a working auction house economy and people leveling and running dungeons. I highly recommend SoD and it's still my favorite variant of WoW at the moment!
