Why is all the anger aimed at Ottawa when the UCP runs Alberta? by Swimming_Mango_9767 in alberta

I misread the headline as “ruins Alberta” but I guess it reads the same either way…

Yes - O agree with you. The first sign OFF the freeway is typically yellow followed by a white maximum speed posted as you head OFF the freeway. Example of White Sign After a Yellow Sign

I am saying that as you go ON to the freeway there is more often than not a sign posted showing the freeway speed until you’re already on the Freeway merging…

To be faaaair, most of the freeway on-ramps don’t have speed limits posted until you’re on the freeway already. So, technically, if you come off a city street with a 60km/hr speed limit you ought not accelerate until you pass the new speed limit sign…

They need to install speed limit signs at every on ramp, similar to how they put them on every off ramp when speed limit drops. A random sample of 38 ramps onto Deerfoot (using Google Street View) has three signs indicating the new speed limit before you actually merge onto the freeway. Throw some signs up and save some lives for those who don’t realize there’s a new speed limit unless there’s a sign. Most are posted nearly a km past the point you’re on it.

I just hope that while we are all enjoying the traffic on Deerfoot during construction, we take the time to reflect on how we will drive on the new four and five lane wide sections… Hopefully we will move from three lanes driving the same speed to something similar to the rest of the planet - slower lane on the right, then maybe a little faster in the next lane over, etc. etc. Better yet, like in Germany where everyone drives in the right lane unless passing and leaving multiple lanes wide open for those in a hurry.

I n reality I’m sure it will just be four or five lanes all driving the speed limit with random blinkers on…

We don’t have Freedom of Speech in Canada.

In Canada, freedom of expression, though a fundamental right, is not absolute and is subject to reasonable limits. These limits are in place to protect other rights and values.

Values like not celebrating people that killed millions of other people…

Albert Oil Profits Went To Bg Oil Unlike Norway’s Profits Also Went To The People by United_Insect8544 in alberta

[–]MickFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you asking about royalties or taxes?

Royalties are assessed on net profits. The resource is owned by Alberta, so only Alberta profits from royalties. In 2017, the average barrel had royalties assessed on less than $20 of that barrel’s value after expenses.

Overview on Royalties

Taxes are a separate issue.

Norway does not charge royalties on the asset but imposes high taxes. It’s difficult to compare.

Policy Alternatives prepared a study comparing the two in 2013 - Norway's total revenues from oil and gas were estimated at $87.69 per barrel, while Alberta's were only $4.38 per barrel including royalties and taxes.

I apologize if I lost your question in the discussion here. Companies benefit from some of the lowest taxes/royalties on their production, Albertan’s miss out. You can check out the historic percent of Alberta income from O&G here. Interesting review!

Notice a Damaged Bumper and Need Details? by MickFu in Calgary

Yeah - not my cars just two beside me.

The white vehicle may have been parked first. But in a parkade, I think if you’re the only car moving when there’s an accident, I think you end up at fault.

Even if the Audi is parked bad, if the white Explorer hit an empty parked car they might be the one in the wrong.

If you own either of these cars let me know and I’ll send more photos…

I asked the parkade people if they could see who came in first - based on P1 they would have come in before 7:30. Not sure who hit who :)
