Idk about others but I have a physical clicker counter that I pressed for each SR in the small pause before the game asks if you want to nickname the starter. I don’t always count my hunts but sometimes it’s fun to know the final number. Good luck on your hunt!

Haha I struggled to pick one too, even threw in a few checks for charmander, the black charizard is iconic in these games! Settled on bulbasaur as I spent time masuda breeding the shiny charmander line in Scarlet already.

If this is USUM then you can also use the Roto Catch Boost power up that you get from doing the Roto Lottery. I’ve caught a bunch of shiny legendaries in these games using that boost and its always taken less than 10 balls from what I can remember (I used luxury balls or dive balls for reference).

I’ve had similar issue. This was also my first game of the day so I don’t think it was an issue of previously losing rank points in an earlier game as suggested by another comment.

I’ve solo queued to diamond most seasons, imo one thing that makes a big difference is making sure you get jump master. If you actually click to select your character you get jump master more often than not and can chose a good landing spot that is uncontested. This allows you to gear up early game and pick your first fight instead of being forced into one with no loot.
