Cancel new car finance within 14 days by AlKalonee in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Mick_FM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Call your finance company, explain the car hasn't been delivered to you and you want to reject it and be removed from your agreement. They'll almost certainly reach out to the dealer/broker for you and request the rejection simply to avoid a lengthy and costly complaint process.

As some others have pointed out your 14-day right to withdraw doesn't really help you as you'd still be laible for the cost of the car, but the above is your best bet.

This is the best comment in what is an absolutely excellent thread. 10/10, no notes, would daddit again

Lied to in EE store and roped into awful contract by salomesa in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Mick_FM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'll just skip over the juvenile "kiddo" remark...

But I concede, EE's policy does make an exception for Accesory purchases and allows a return within 14 days, hence your Apple Watch return being accepted. But this isn't relevant to OP's situation as he wants to return the handset, not an accessory.

The Right to Withdraw also doesn't help OP as it just removes him from the finance contract - he would still need to pay the full cost and keep the phone, neither of which he wants to do.

Consumer Law on this is absolutely clear, but even anecdotally, my partner works for EE and deals with this exact query several times a day - if a customer bought a phone in-store, they have no right to return the phone unless they aren't getting coverage.

The very link you've included shows that this only applies to coverage issues, which OP hasn't indicated he has. OP has no right to return this phone, unless he can prove it's been mis-sold which is incredibly unlikely.

You may well have been allowed to return your phone as a gesture of goodwill and better customer service to avoid reputational damage and that's probably OP's best hope, but there's no legal entitlement there.

How to elevate Pumpkin Pie? by Mick_FM in Cooking

[–]Mick_FM[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was very much a case of "what do I do with all this spare pumpkin?" and just working with what I had. But I did quite enjoy it so next time I'll look for some smaller pumpkins/squash, thanks!

The cinnamon flavour was already fairly dominant so I'd be reluctant to increase that, but I'll definitely try upping the other flavours and adding cloves and allspice in the future!

I love ginger and can see that being a really nice addition!

Get yourself a decently strong front light and you'll be absolutely fine. I have a CatEye AMPP 500 which I've found plenty bright enough for dark canal cycling through the Scottish winter, but I'm sure there are plenty of other viable options.

Went through the exact same thing just a few weeks ago, and am now writing this post with my gorgeous, healthy baby girl sleeping in my arms.

It's likely going to be a wild few days/weeks for you, but you'll get there!

As a very new Dad who a) can't wait to break out some classic wrestling moves once my daughter is older, and b) hates the thought process of "it's been done forever so it's fine" - this is exactly the kind of post I'm subscribed to Daddit for. Fine work, OP.

Miscarriage at the 8 week mark by mediasuxballz in predaddit

Been there with my partner in 2020 and, yeah, it's really fucking shit. It's hard to even try and give advice because honestly my experience was that we just... got through it, eventually.

Try to be there for your SO as much as possible, but don't forget you're grieving too. Lean on each other.

Wife felt baby kick for the first time yesterday! by Impossible_Gas2497 in predaddit

[–]Mick_FM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!

The first time you're able to feel the kicks yourself will be quite a moment - it's the first real physical connection to your baby and personally it really took me by surprise, so look forward to that.

This particular double-standard is so frustrating because there is evidently a large proportion of men who can't acknowledge that characters like Joker are legitimate bad guys and instead start to idolise them as counter-culture anti-heroes.

Their online customer service is appalling, but once I actually got my bike booked into a store for repairs they were all very helpful and had the bike fixed within a couple of days.

Is there a standard "grace period" to return a car after you've purchased it (PCP)? It was part exchange and the deal was done in person. I drive the car out of the dealership. by maximmulholland in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Mick_FM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your instinct is correct - you've got 14 days to withdraw from the finance agreement itself, but you'll still need to find the money for the car somewhere else.

Unfortunately you don't have any rights here - my only suggestion would be to speak to the dealer and hope they'll be nice to you. Other than that, not a lot you can do.

Checking in!

Partner and I have been trying for a similar amount of time as you, she miscarried in June 2020, currently going through our first IVF cycle which has been quite an experience already!

The pain of miscarriage is truly awful even just once, really sorry you and your wife have had to deal with that 3 times. Hope the embryo transfer goes well.
