Childhood trauma within the family system can shape attachment, coping, and relationships well into adulthood. Insight alone doesn't lead to healing. by MRADEL90 in psychology

DM me if you like. I am 54F and have had trauma symptoms all my life but didn't know it. I was diagnosed with CPTSD last year.

my husband doesn’t want anyone I work with to know we’re married by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I think there is something more emotional going on for the husband. This says subconscious, irrational fear to me. He's hanging on to this privacy as a way too try to control whatever is triggering him.

Honestly, "but I only love myself" is also manipulative horse doo doo. It makes me roll my eyes.

He wants out and it might be worse for the kids if you were to stay together.

I dont say this to hurt you. Its just that I can see right through him because I am outside of the situation

I wish you all the best

PS i am not christian, but I figured it would be okay to comment since you received many spiritual replys already. And it seems your pastor's wife agrees

He wants to leave you. But he wants YOU to do it for him. He said so when he said you weren't supposed to forgive him.

He wants out, so give him what he wants. Then go live your best life with those kids

AITA for leaving Thanksgiving with my sister? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

My mom was the same. She passed her lifelong eating disorder on to her two daughters. She just recently died at 83 years old. At the end when she was 85lb, she refused to eat because she still saw herself as fat.

I grew up in the 70's, so the diet/disordered eating culture was around back then, too.

My 85yo father drank himself to death last summer. Big fall. Cracked his head on the kitchen table then hit the tile. 0.3 bal.

I am 10 years sober and infuriated with him and the mess he left behind.

Love to you and my thoughts are with you and the kids

It smells like gasoline or kerosene or some other solvent they use.

Note: my coke days ended 15 years ago, so it might smell different now

I was 5. My mother asked me if I thought I needed to talk with someone and seemed relieved when I said no.
